Home description

El Sueno is set in a quiet wooded residential area of detached villas, yet is close to shops, supermarkets restaurants, beach and bars and the only golf course on the island.

It is an ideal holiday for family groups - two families sharing, or multi-generation families. One double en suite bedroom has its own balcony overlooking the pool terrace, which is ideal for grandparents to view without being splashed!

It is also ideal for families divided by golf. Golf enthusiasts can leave the rest of the family to enjoy poolside high jinks while they explore the 18 hole golf course a short drive away.

Son Parc is a beautiful location on the hilly and wooded north coast of Menorca, where you can happily spend your whole holiday, either in our comfortable villa, or exploring the surrounding area and beaches. It is a 30 minute drive to the capital Mahon and the airport and about 45 minute drive to the old capital, Cuitadella on the west coast.

There are so many beaches, stunning views, archaeological sites and museums and art galleries, waterparks, sports, etc, that a vehicle would so enhance your holiday. We can book one for you with a reliable family business. Do ask for details.

The Menorca region

Menorca is the most individual and independently minded of the Balearic Islands. Its character and history has been forged in the fire of successive invaders since the time of the Phoenicians. Its geography is defined and divided by the central east/west 'motorway': south of it is flatter, more arid land; to the north it is greener and more mountainous, leading up to Mount Toro, the highest ground on the island. Roads radiate from the central spine to many villages, holiday resorts and wonderful beaches.

The island offers a warm welcome to all, but is particularly attractive to families, golfers, walkers, bird-watchers and sun-worshippers. The main holiday season is from late May to October, with the hottest period being July, but March and April and early May are great for walkers, naturalists and those who prefer more gentle heat.


Son Parc area

Son Parc residential estate is a spaciously laid out private estate of large mainly detached houses with their own pools and gardens. It spreads out round a hill in a series of cul de sacs, which avoids noisy through traffic.

It is a wooded area, though many trees have been cleared to create gardens. El Sueno has a long view over the trees, past the golf course extension, to Mount Toro in the distance. Down in the commercial area are several supermarkets, shops, bars and restaurants. Beyond these is the vast sandy beach, backed by sand hills, set by a great crescent bay. There is a cafe to one side and pedaloes and canoes for hire with first-aiders/life guards at peak times.

The more energetic can walk over the hill to smaller quieter coves. El Sueno is a good compromise for families of golf aficionados: it is close enough for golfers to go off to do their own 'thing', while the rest of the family can relax and have fun in and round the pool or go to the beach.

Five or so miles away is Fornells, an old fishing village, full of restaurants, bars and shops and a most picturesque place to promenade. It is set on the edge of a long, almost landlocked bay, which is popular with windsurfers and sailing boats. Small motor boats can be hired for use in the bay.

At the mouth of the bay is a restored hilltop fortification, offering a fine view. Fornells has its blessing the boats festival in August and neighbouring Mercadal has its festival in July. It is quite an experience to witness, but small children may be lost in the crush!

There are direct flights to Mahon (Mao) airport from many UK airports during the season and an all year scheduled service with Monarch out of Luton.

Internet searches will find the cheapest flights.

Flights via Barcelona can be cheaper, but take longer.

There are also ferries from Barcelona and hydrofoils form Majorca to Ciutadella if you have your own vehicle.

Hire cars can be collected at the airport. Sol Car Hire is highly recommended: you can book through us.

Taxis are always available at the airport: allow £25-30 one way.

Top floor at road level has double en suite bedroom and private balcony, Full kitchen, large lounge, conservatory dining room, built-in barbecue and extra sitting area.
This can be used as self -contained flat for two in lower season.

Bottom level : double bedroom with en suite shower room, two twin bedrooms and full bathroom.
Access to pool terrace from bedrooms and passageway.

The terrace has a large deep swimming pool and an attached paddling/lounging pool.

There is a set-back section in front of the bedrooms for shade and a lower terrace for solitude-lovers.

The garden is designed to be as natural as possible, with meandering paths round beds of olive trees and bushes and pine trees. In spring wild orchids grow.


Conditions

Villa has beds for 8 people. Cots/folding beds can be hired for young children, but space in bedrooms limited. High chairs can be hired.

Damage/ key deposit of £200 is required 4 weeks before departure. This is returned after return of key if no unreasonable damage has been caused.

Booking deposit of 25% ; balance due 8 weeks prior to departure.

No smoking allowed within the villa.
Pets strictly by arrangement (extra fee may be applicable).
