About the home

Villa Olivia is a pretty detached villa located towards the end of a quiet tree lined cul-de-sac. The accommodation is laid out over two floors and is both spacious and bright with windows to the rear overlooking the terrace and pool. The villa has been updated throughout, with WIFI available and offers a modern fitted kitchen with integrated appliances and separate laundry room with washing machine and dryer.

Villa Olivia is surrounded by small gardens stocked with a variety of scrubs. The villa is surrounded by pine trees which give a high degree of seclusion and privacy. The private swimming pool measures 7 ½ metres x 4 metres and has the convenience of an adjacent outside shower. Overlooking the swimming pool is a good sized terrace with a BBQ.

Just a 10 minute walk from the villa there are some lovely beaches and excellent restaurants to choose from.

The modern kitchen is open plan to the dining room and is fully equipped with oven/hob, microwave, fridge, freezer and dishwasher. There is a separate laundry room equipped with washing machine and dryer, with rear access to the parking bay and laundry drying area.

The villa provides three bedrooms with air conditioning and fitted wardrobes. The master bedroom has an en suite shower room and a private terrace. There is a separate family bathroom for the further two twin bedrooms. The villa can sleep a maximum of six people.

The villa will be available for occupation from 2 pm on each Friday and check out on day of departure is 10 am on Friday.

We can arrange for the hire of cots and high chairs if required.

* The charge per week for a cot is £35 per week.
* The charge per week for a high chair is £25 per week.
* The charge for WIFI per week is £20

We can also arrange for food starter packs to be left in villa at the commencement of your holiday to include basics such as bread, butter, fruit juice, milk, etc.

We regret that we are unable to accept liability in the case of any theft, damage or personal injuries during your holiday. We would therefore strongly recommend that you should make your own arrangements for insurance cover for full medical care, personal travel protection and for cancellation and curtailment protection of you and all your party. We will leave this to you and assume that you will make these arrangements. We offer no refund for a holiday cut short or for a holiday not started. Your own policies must cover you and your party against all such eventualities.

Living Room

The Menorca region

Menorca is a peaceful island with an abundance of lovely beaches, pretty harbours and a genuine friendliness from it’s people. There are a plethora of sports available and a wide choice of restaurants to choose from

Known as the "Blue and White" for it’s sparkling white houses and deep blue sea, Menorca is located about 160 miles south of Barcelona and 30 miles north of Mallorca. The island measures approximately 35 miles long and 10 miles wide with sun bleached villages and pretty countryside.

It is one of the most enduring attractive of the smaller Mediterranean islands, with a particular charm and tranquility of it’s own. There are around 120 coves and sandy beaches, mostly with safe crystal clear waters ideal for small children. The roads are rarely busy and the landscape is one of rolling farmland, magnificent cliffs and exquisite sands. The South East of the island is partly flat with fields surrounded by dry stone walls while in the north are pine covered hills with wild flowers and scrubs.

There is a seemingly never ending array of restaurants lining the whole length of the marina offering all types of cuisine including the more traditional Menorcan dishes.

Fornells is a picturesque fishing village located within a very short drive of Son Parc to the North of the island. It is ideal for wind surfing and sailing with numerous sailing schools located in the area. There are a variety of seafood restaurants and cafes gathered around the harbour offering local dishes including Caldareta de Langosta a delicious local seafood casserole made with lobster.

The Son Parc area

Villa Olivia is situated in Son Parc on the north coast of the island, in an area of approximately three hundred hectares of landscapes and pine forests. It offers the perfect spot for a family holiday or for those demanding a golf course on the doorstep.

The magnificent beach of Arenal de Son Saura lies just below the resort within 5 minutes drive of the villa, with sands stretching hundreds of metres into the bay and gently shelving making it ideal for children and wonderful for snorkelling enthusiasts with it’s crystal clear waters. There is an abundance of watersports available including windsurfing, water skiing, jet skis and pedaloes.

There is an abundance of good restaurants on the island to suit all budgets offering a wide variety of cuisines from the traditional Menorquin to Italian, Indian, French and Thai. For information contact www.menorcadining.com.

Golf

The Son Parc golf course is located within walking distance of the villa. The course offers 18 holes. There is a driving range, club house and shop and the following may be hired, clubs, buggies, electric and pull trolleys. The club also offers golf lessons. Horse Riding

For the experienced or first timers of all ages can be found amongst other places at Club Hipic Es Beoret S'Algar. Equimar half way between Es Castell and Mahon on the turn off to Trepuco.

Mount Toro is well worth visiting as it is the highest point on the island at approximately 1,000 ft. As well as being the highest point it is also the spiritual centre with the sanctuary built in the late 16th century and tended by a community of Franciscan nuns. The views over almost all of the island are quite spectacular.

Ciutadella is the former capital of Menorca . The old Arab Mediterranean citadel walled in by the harbour defences and winding, narrow streets of stone between noble palaces. The beautiful ancient harbour with good bars and restaurants.

Water Parks

Aqua Park in Cala Forcat - a small water park ideal for younger children with a restaurant and a bouncy castle play area. The park can be found on the main road going into Cala Forcat - near to Hotel Los Delphines.

Aqua Rock Cala Bosc – is a larger water park than Calan Forcat. This park includes four big slides, including the Black hole and the Kamikaze, one large pool with both walk-in and jump in areas, one small pool with smaller slides for the young ones and a pool with a wave machine.

Diving, Sailing & Fishing

Menorca offers fantastic diving sights and S'Algar along with Binibeca, Cala Galdana, Port Addaia, Calan Forcat, Cala Bosc plus other resorts offer courses from "try a dive" to course over 5 - 6 days. There also several clubs located around the island where you may both wind sail and take sailing lessons.

Cricket
Menorca has a cricket club located within close proximity to Mahon the capital of the island. Matches are play from March to October and there is a clubhouse where visitors can enjoy refreshments and watch cricket being played on the most beautiful ground in the Mediterranean. Fiestas

Menorca has many Fiestas, one of the most famous being that of Ciudadella fiesta of Saint Joan on 23rd and 24th of June. The horses bred in Menorca are the stars of the fiestas and are made to dance to the airs of Menorcan "jota" tunes, the most famous being the "Saint Joan" jota.

Some other fiestas worth visiting are as follows - all dates are approximate and timetables aren't finalised until the day before sometimes.

There are approaching 15 airlines which fly to Mahon airport, Menorca including Monarch Airlines, Britannia Airlines, Air 2000, European Airlines & BA. We recommend hiring a car to give freedom to explore the island. However it is possible to travel around the island on public transport. A previous guest who decided not to hire a vehicle wrote. “The coach style services are clean and efficient and quite well priced if a little infrequent". They seem to stick well to their timetable, but can run a bit early or a bit late and are not very flexible about where they drop or pick up. You can get all over the island, though often via Mahon and you need to plan your return times as some services are limited.

A booking deposit of £150.00 per week booked is required with your written booking to cover any breakages / excessive cleaning. The full balance of the villa price is due for payment 6 weeks before your holiday starts, or at once if booked within this period. Payment is by cheque or BACS transfers.

No refund will be made for non-appearance or early departures. Your own travel and medical insurance must cover this eventuality. You are asked to pledge a security deposit against any villa damage of £100.00. Your security deposit will be returned to you (we hope) within 14 days of your return from holiday.
