As its name suggests, this charming property, tucked away in the beautiful Authie valley, was once a Railway Cafe that played host to locals, British soldiers in WW1, German soldiers during the French occupation in WW2 and even a few French resistance freedom fighters. Indeed, you can still see where the bar once took centre stage, in what is now the lounge.

The property has been lovingly restored over the last ten years by its current owners, providing a comfortable home from home for friends and family wishing to explore this beautiful and historical part of northern France.

In summary: Sleeping arrangements include one family room (two interjoining bedrooms) that sleeps four (one double and 2 single beds); two further twin bedrooms (2 single beds in each); a large comfortable living room with British Freeview television and a wood burning stove; a large kitchen (with seating for 4) and bathroom; a snug area with sofas that seat 4 (including a DVD player and Wii); a dining area (seating up to 8 at a squeeze); a large 1/2 acre garden overlooking the Authie river with a terrace (ideal for BBQ's and relaxing).

So what is it really like? Well, it's pretty much hidden away. The only cars that come past are the postman and a lovely neighbour. It's the kind of place where you can really relax and unwind. It's not posh and it's pretty rustic...authentic french, comfortable living. All the bedrooms have recently been refurbished and the beds are all great for a good night's sleep.

There are plenty of amazing restaurants and a million things to do, including beautiful beaches, museums, WW1 and WW2 locations, kids adventure parks, seaside resorts, incredible cities like Amiens and Arras and so much's a great spot to relax or explore.

Having a car is essential. Whilst nothing is too far away, everywhere does require a short car ride.

Northern France region

From its short coastline on the Channel, at the mouth of the river Somme, to a brief border with southern Belgium, Picardy is a region that has been at the heart of European history for well over a thousand years. Its importance is reflected in its historic heritage - including some of the finest medieval cathedrals in France, some impressive chateaux, and many sites and memories of the Great War.

Thank-you for your lovely review. We are really pleased you enjoyed your holiday. You were right to mention Dennly's Park which is great for little ones for a day out. Next time also try Bagatelle, which is a huge theme park just 40 minutes away with rides for all the family..big and small. The zoo in Amiens is also a great family trip, not to mention the hundreds of miles of golden sandy beaches. Here's to next time!
