The Somerset region
South Somerset is a beautiful area with the wildlife and mists of the Somerset Levels, the history and legends of Glastonbury and King Arthur, the lovely hamstone towns and villages and maybe best of all the pubs, cider and local produce. Within an hour you can vist 2 coasts, the towns of Bristol and Bath, Stonehenge, Glastonbury Tor, Cheddar Gorge, undiscovered villages like Somerton and Langport with their fantstic local shops and cafes. You can walk along the Yeo or the Parrett or hire cycles and bike along quiet lanes.
The Barn is located in the picturesque village of Long Sutton with its blue lias houses, a church, pub and shop located around the village green. Within 1 mile there are 2 other pubs, one being regarded as the best in Somerset. Within 20 minutes you can visit Glastonbury with its Tor, Abbey and unusual shops and restaurants, Street with its Factory outlet shopping, several wildlife sanctuaries, langport, Somerton, multiple National Trust houses and open gardens, Haynes Motor Museum, The Fleet Air Arm Museum etc etc. The area is also full of local Cider Farms that can be visited(& sampled) as well as a farm shop within a mile, a local smokery and several local butchers, greenbrocers and delis.

"Perfect setting for my fiance's 30th surprise birthday with all his close friends"
We stayed over a weekend as a group of 13 adults.
Upon arrival Gill came in to show us around (played along perfectly with the fact my fiancé had no idea 11 of his friends would be joining us!)
The lodge itself is equipped with everything you could need for a weekend including cooking utensils and a lovely long dining table in open kitchen/dinning room perfect for group eating and buffet style meals.
Rooms were all lovely and spacious, I'm not normally a great sleeper when away from home and especially not whilst being 7months pregnant but i slept really well!
The facilities were great, despite the pool being closed due to it being January the hot tub and sauna were a great success with everyone (they were disappointed to have only discovered the cdplayer&speakers on hot tub on last morning!)
Lots of board games available for if weather is bad, we were lucky that weather was so nice whilst we were there.
Would definitely recommend staying here and we will be looking into booking to stay here again in the future.
Only note would be to be aware that local pubs stop serving food at 2pm on weekdays and closed at 3:30 but not really and issue. Not sure what time they opened up again later as we stayed in and cooked.
Upon booking and even before Gill made every attempt to answer and queries i had and did the best she could to help provide everything we needed for the weekend.
Great information on lodges themselves as well as directions, local amenities.
Thanks Gill for helping make a memorable weekend that was thoroughly enjoyed by everyone!

"Luxurious and Cosy"
Visited with workmates (12) for 2 nights for our Christmas party. The home was fantastic, plenty of space and spotlessly clean. The space was ideal for a large family or friend gathering. The facilities were excellent, we even made use of the outdoor jacuzzi , even though it was December. Plenty to do indoors on those rainy days , with a pool table , table football and many board games supplied.

"Best 30th Birthday I could have asked for"
Had an amazing time away at the Upton Bourne lodge for my 30th birthday. Created so many fab memories. There was a large mixed sex group of us (13) in total and still plenty of room.
The hot tub was amaze and the games room kept the boys entertained while the girls watched xfactor all snuggled up on the sofa.
We cooked all three nights and took a few brisk walks around Long Sutton.
We will definitely be back that's for sure.

"Exceptional house, fantastic for friends or family groups"
Upton Bourne lodge is a beautiful house which is light, spacious, clean and well equipped. The bedrooms and bathrooms are large with the most comfortable beds I have ever encountered in a holiday let. The kitchen, dinning and living room are so well equipped and are lovely spaces which work so well open plan. The hot tub, garden , pool and games room were all fab too, we didn't even make it to the sauna but it look great. There are 2 dishwashers and 2 fridges and a great utility room. I loved the house so much I wanted to stay forever. The area is lovely too with a great walk to the pub. Thank you Gill we had a fab time. I would recommend this place very highly.

"Luxury holiday house with hot tub, sauna and pool"
We stayed in Upton Bourn Lodge for a weekend in August 2014. There were 8 of us and the house was fantastic - newly renovated, spacious, very well presented and well equipped. We made lots of use of the superb facilities including the hot tub, sauna, swimming pool and pool table. Gill (the owner) was extremely helpful throughout the booking process and greeted us on our arrival. I would definitely recommend this property and indeed we are hoping to go back next year for a longer stay!

"Wonderful spacious and well equipped holiday home with everything you could possibly desire in your own home!!!"
A fantastic modern property with no expense spared in offering a comfortable and luxurious stay. It offers a vast amount of space and equipped with practically everything you could possibly need for your holiday. The rooms are decorated to a very high standard and the beds themselves are unbelievably comfy - to the point where you cant prize yourself out of them. Even the bathrooms are big!! There is a lovely spacious kitchen with ample dining space and seating for large groups. The large bi-fold doors situated next to the dining room leading out on to the patio creates a lovely open feel to the house and great for the summer evenings. The shared heated pool is lovely and clean with plenty of surrounding space and the hot tub and sauna are a lovely way to end the day.
Overall we had a lovely weekend and wished we could have stayed longer. We would no doubt recommend this to friends and family and hope to visit again soon.

"Outstanding property in beautiful Somerset"
Stayed at Upton Bourne Lodge in July 2014. It truly is a wonderful property. There were 7 of us and we had so much space. Lots of lovely touches, especially loved the docking stations for our music downstairs. The pool was lovely and the hot tub too. A lovely part of Somerset and lots of amazing places to explore. I wouldn't have any hesitation in recommending this fabulous property.
