The Western Cape region
The Eastern cape is a massively diverse region of South Africa. This region is naturally diverse with endless rolling hills, stunning coastlines, verdent forests, spectacular mountain ranges and the arid Great Karoo. The Eastern Cape provides something for everyone whether you want to take a safari and see the "big five", enjoy the fantastic range of water sports, take part in any of the numerous leisure activities, see the natural sights or just take a moment to relax on one of the stunning beaches.
The climate here is fantastic with hot summers and mild winters, and due to the cooling effect of the sea temperatures never become extreme.
Somerset West area
The Golf Leave the cold behind and come play some of Africa’s finest courses. On the doorstep are Stellenbosch, host to the Ladies’ Amateur World Tour in 2006, where you might even see Ernie Ells and his Dad hitting a ball or two! Also, very close is Erinvale, designed by Gary Player which boasts a top Spa for those who want to indulge themselves to a Pamper Day. Within easy driving distance, there is also Fancourt, Royal Cape, De Zalze and 5 star Arabella plus many other top quality local courses.
Sights to see For the non golfers in the party, Capetown awaits with Table Mountain, which can be climbed or ridden up by cable car to experience the best views across the region. The V&A waterfront is the place to shop for quality and designer goods at affordable prices. Once ‘shopped’ you can then ‘drop’ into one of the many specialised restaurants and bars where you can watch the spectacular sunsets over the mountains and soak up the friendly, South African ambience. From here one can make Mandela’s journey to Robin Island and experience his life of confinement from a real life prisoner tour guide!
Wine tasting is a must, whether with a guide or independently, but don’t plan on doing too much afterwards as the excellent SA wines could leave you very heady. The Boschendal picnique, where they provide a hamper, is set amongst the trees and is highly recommended.
For the more active of the party, there is a wide variety of sports and activities available locally including, diving with the sharks, Quad Biking, Sky Diving and Absailing off Table Mountain …………….. and many more.
Visit Haut Bay and experience Seal Island or drive through Camps Bay and sample cocktails, trendy bars and restaurants.
Try standing on the most southern point of Africa, where two Oceans meet at the Cape of Good Hope.
The beaches are lovely, sandy and plentiful and you can even swim with the penguins on Boulders Beach!
