This is one of the oldest and most beautiful houses in Port Soller. Two Holiday Homes available together or separately (See also Holiday Lettings properties 102415/6/7). The house is located right in the heart of Santa Catalina, the old fisherman's quarter of Port Soller. The property is just minutes from the beach, restaurants and bars.
Ca'n Barbara is a luxurious property with stunning views of the bay and the Tramuntana mountains and valleys. It occupies the top two floors of the building and features a large SUPER-KING SIZE bedroom with en-suite shower and WC, separate Twin Bedroom/dressing room (accessed from main bedroom) . There is an open plan lounge/dining room and kitchen, there are french doors to a balcony.
There is an additional double futon bed and separate WC/wash room. It sleeps up to 4 adults and a child.
Air conditioning is provided to both floors of the property.
There is access to the top floor of the property via the old village street of Carrer de Mallorca.
A spiral staircase connects the two floors.
The top floor consists of an open plan lounge, dining and kitchen area. There are French doors to a balcony. The lounge has a double futon sofa and 2 arm chairs, coffee table and shelves with Satelite TV, Hi-Fi/CD player, iPhone/iPod Dock, radio, and DVD with a selection of DVDs and CDs. The Dining area has a table and chairs for 5 people plus 2 bar stools. There is also a Cloakroom with WC on this floor.
The lower floor consists of 1 double bedroom, 1 twin bedroom, a shower room with wc, handbasin, mirror + cabinet, etc. Cot available on request.
Please note that in August change-overs are restricted to Sundays only. We have found that Flights are generally cheaper on Sundays than Saturdays.

Ca'n Barbara occupies the top 2 floors of this old fishermen's cottage. It has a balcony with stunning 180 degree panoramic view of harbour, the Tramuntana mountains and valleys.
Access is provided from the old village street of Carrer Mallorca.
The top floor consists of an open plan lounge, dining and kitchen area. There are French doors to balcony.
The lounge has 2 double sofas (one converts to a double bed), Satelite TV, DVD player with selection of DVDs, Hi-Fi/CD player, radio and selection of CDs.
The Dining area has a table and chairs for 5 people. A highchair is also provided.
The Kitchen has electric oven, hob, extractor fan, microwave and large fridge/freezer. There is also a cloakroom with WC, wash basin and a washing machine.
The lower floor consists of a large SuperKing size bedroom with en-suite shower room with WC. There is a separate twin bedroom/dressing room accessed from the main bedroom. Satalite TV is provided in the main bedroom.
A Cot is available on request.
Internet and free WiFi are both available locally.

You can park directly outside the house to load and unload. Longer term parking available within a couple of minutes walk. There are 4 free carparks within a few minutes walk.

The property is just 2 minutes walk to the seafront where the following amenities are available: beaches, restaurants, supermarkets, boat trips/hire, cash point, chemist, tram stop to Sóller (and onward train to Palma), taxi rank, bus stop for Palma, Sóller, Deia, Fornalutx, Valldamossa, etc.
There are a number of golf courses within 30 minutes drive. We can assist with arranging Tee times if required.
A great location for swimming, walking, painting, eating out, bird watching or just relaxing.
Palma airport is 35 minutes away. Car hire is not required. Transfers can be arranged. Please note that you can park right by the house for loading and unloading but longer term parking is restricted, within the older part of the village, to residents only. However, there are a number of free car parks within a couple of minutes walk as well as pay and display.

With regard to your list of “Weak points” I believe most of your comments to be a bit unfair and/or inaccurate. Therefore I will respond to them individually:
“No dishwasher” – This is clearly identified on the website. We may install one in the future if there is significant demand.
“No internet” – This is clearly identified on the website. Free WiFi and Internet are both available locally. Many, if not most, of the restaurants and bars now offer free WI-FI to customers. There are also 4 internet cafes around the bay.
“Access may be difficult for people with restricted mobility (tight spiral staircase inside, alleys and staircases in the old town)” – We clearly state on the website that the property has a spiral staircase. We also state that the property is not suitable for people with Restricted Mobility or for Wheelchair Users.
“Parking is 2-3 minutes' walk away down an outdoor staircase or a small street.” - Once again, it is stated on the website that parking is available within a couple of minutes walk. There are 4 free car parks all within a few minutes' walk. For info, the “outdoor staircase” you refer to, is known locally as the “Mallorcan Spanish Steps” and is a highly photographed scene.
“Be advised that Port Soller is very developed” – There are many pictures of Port Soller on the website which show how it has developed over the years. There has been a considerable investment in the port ensuring that any development is attractive and tasteful. This includes one of Europe's top 5 hotels.
“Most inhabitants are elderly tourists, mainly from Germany, some from the UK or other northern countries, very few Spaniards here” – This may be the case in October, when you stayed at Ca'n Barbara. However, this is definitely not the case all year around. The Port is extremely popular with couples and young families of many nationalities. Furthermore it is visited by many Mallorcan families from all over the island.
“Its beaches are not the best, and the coast is rocky, with cliffs (very impressive views, and probably some wonderful hiking, but if it's a beach you want, don't come here” – There are 4 beaches around the bay, two soft sand, one hard sand and one stony. The sand on the two soft sandy beaches stretches well into the sea and, certainly in my view and many of our previous guests, they are excellent. In fact, the Port of Soller is the only place to offer sandy beaches on the entire west coast of Majorca.
“It takes at least 40 minutes to get to a good beach” - The nearest sandy beach is 10 minutes walk away and the furthest is 20 minutes away.
“I was not given the address prior to arrival (instead, directions to a meeting point). It would be better to give the address too.” – We provided you with a detailed map showing the exact location of Ca'n Barbara. Just 5 days before your holiday I asked if you had any outstanding questions! You did not mention this.
