The Canillo region

Why Soldeu? Well known for the amount of sunshine and the incredible breathtaking views of the Pyrenees!

Soldeu, Andorra located between France and Spain... The ambience of these two countries and cultures are unique... Skiing, weather, food, drink and the people make Soldeu a fabulous place for a unique winter vacation.

Set in the Andorran Pyrenees, Soldeu is probably Andorra's best known resort recommended for budding beginners and improving intermediates. Excellent all round family resort.

Soldeu's primary focus throughout winter is skiing with arguably the best ski school in Europe. Superb family friendly facilities. Fantastic slopes for all standards.


Activities include skidoos, dog sledding, helicopter rides.

Soldeu Village is the highest station in the 4 village Grand Valira ski complex. It is a medium sized lively unpretentious resort popular with the British, French and Spanish. The resort is built along the main road that runs from Andorra La Vella (the capital of Andorra) through to France. The resort has a mixture of large and small hotels, ski-shops, bars and restaurants. Many of the workers in the resort are young and speak good English, which helps to create a relaxed and friendly atmosphere around the resort.

The ambience is relaxed more Catalan than French in character, with great apres ski. For its size Soldeu is incredibly well served with thriving bars,clubs and restaurants and the facilities have been greatly improved in recent years both on and off the slopes.


is lively, helped by the young skiers and snow-boarders that are attracted to Soldeu. Andorra is well known for it's duty free status, which helps the Après-Ski in the resort. There is no shortage of bars, restaurants and hotels in Soldeu.

5 minutes down the valley is Canillo with the Sports Palace, Olympic swimming pool, ice rink, go karts on ice and tennis.

"Brilliant week realising I cant ski!!!"

Travelled with husband and 16 & 12 year old kids. Arrived at the apartment, phoned our contact who sorted us out straight away, showed us into the underground parking (bonus for hubby as bit of an obsession about car safety even in a hire car) and explained the inner workings of the apartment and especially the heating. After a trek up the 5 flights of stairs (3 from the entrance, 5 from the car park) we were met by a cosy, welcoming apartment with all the right amenities for us. It was warm, spacious enough for us all and had enough storage. No view on arrival as weather not playing along. However the next morning what a sight - the view is absolutely beautiful. No problems with the apartment throughout the week but knew that there was help if needed as the lady who was our contact lived in the same building. The heating could be a tad noisy at night when off (running water sounds) but most of the time we were so worn out from the days activities that we did not notice for long. The stairs were not a problem as with all the exercise I felt like an athlete (admittedly the loosest use of the word) by the end of the week and was racing up them especially when I knew there was chocolate and beer in the fridge.
Soldeu is a brilliant resort. The apartment is located great for the bars, restaurants (not a bad meal had all week) and gondola station. The slopes were great for all levels (parents being rubbish, kids being daredevils). As we travelled with another family (much better skiers) our kids went off with them whilst we stayed in our comfort zone of 0-5mph and minimum slope angle!!! Plenty of scope for all levels and the snow was perfect.
All in all a brilliant holiday, fantastic location and great little apartment. Thank you for having us.

"A Comfortable Stay in a Great Location"

Travelling as a group of Friends - This apartment was perfect for 3 of us with a room each but of course would easily be suitable for 3 couples.
A bit of a hike up a hill and the stairs to the apartment but this is only to be expected of a mountain village and in any case this only added to the truly spectacular view from the apartment which was ideally located for all the amenities expected of a Ski Holiday within the village.
The heating was a bit Hit or Miss but was easily negated by using the open fire sparingly and all other apartment amenities were satisfactory.

"Nice view, but otherwise an appartment with dated furnishings"

Calling this place a "newly renovated top range ski apartment" is very bold statement.
The flat is in comparatively old building (probably built in the '70s). It appears the heating and the bath room hasn't been renovated since then. We had almost no heating for the first three days and the temperature indoor was only 14° - 17°. Doors and windows are poorly isolated with the kitchen being particularly cold.
One wardrobe had no doors anymore. The other was dirty and partly occupied by a big black refuse bag.
The coffee machine was leaking, the dishwasher dirty and when we turned on the oven, fumes of burned oil came out. Quite a number of sockets throughout the flat seem to be dead, i.e. no electricity.
Availability of heated water is limited and barely enough for two persons to take a shower. It then takes half a day for the boiler to heat the water again.
The batteries of two of the tree remote controls in the living room were dead.
The only sign of a renovation were that it seems that the walls have been recently painted and the kitchen appears to be quite new.
The apartment is on the third floor with the garage being at level minus two. No elevator, which means everything needs to be carried through a narrow stairwell up five floors.
The owner of the flat did not react to emails and text messages for two days, when we complained about the lack of heating. The concierge of the house referred me to a "friend" of the house owner, who was supposed to check the heating. But it took three days to fix it.

"Amazing views with all the ammenities of home"

I travelled with my family 2 adults and 2 children. You have to be prepared to walk three flights of stairs but you are in aski resort so hills are one thing you have to get used to! The accomodation is spacious and a fully equipped kitchen meant we could cook easily with the added benefit of a dishwasher/washing machine also. Bedrooms spacious and warm.

Great location to the Gondola station, local bars and restaurants a real village feeling.

Would highly recommend this apartment and will comfortably sleep 6 with 2 in the living room.

"Well appointed apartment"

This apartment was comfortably furnished, with a superb view over the slopes of Soldeu. It was reached by a quite steep hill and was on the top floor of the building, so it is not suitable for anyone who has difficulty walking or climbing, although fit skiers would have no problem.
The positive features of this apartment far outweigh the negatives, but I would mention that we could not find how to turn the hot water on for the first two days and the agents in the village were of little help, so information in the apartment about this would help. I also felt that the bathroom needed updating to bring it up to the standard of the rest of the rooms.
