Home description

The apartment is on the 3rd and 4 th floor offering uninterrupted views of the mountains. Two double bedrooms very nicely appointed, both fully furnished and with double beds, large lounge with dining table and chairs. Large balcony off the lounge and main bedroom. Luxury new bathroom (corner bath, shower, bidet and toilet), and well appointed new kitchen including dishwasher, microwave, fridge freezer, washing machine etc.. Upstairs is the typical rustic beamed attic room. This is divided into two conjoined bedrooms with 2 single beds in each, a separate toilet and basin. Note: due to the sloping roof in the attic rooms there is limited height over the beds at one end. In the basement is a secure garage space and a ski locker.

The Canillo region

Incredible mountain views in the wonderful Pyrenees. Valleys are glorious for summer walking, (do not miss Val d'incles). Fantastic, picturesque, and minutes from the apartment. Tax free shopping an obvious boom. Roads in the summer are great for Bikers and not too busy except through Encamp and Andorra La Vella. Located between France and Spain the mix of these two countries and their customs is intoxicating. Language, food, drink, shopping all contribute to make Andorra a fabulous place to holiday summer or winter.
In Canillo, 5 mins by car/bus or a picturesque footpath next to stable leads there, is a sports complex of which every Andorran is rightly proud. The Sports palace offers not only Olympic swimming pool, ice rink with Hockey, Discos and even Go Karting on ice. There is also a gym, outdoor tennis courts, Squash, Sauna, sun beds and a even a Pizza Express.
The next town is Encamp, here any car buffs will find the National Motor Museum showing cars from the Pinette 1885 to vehicles of the 1970's, one of Europe's largest collections of motoring heritage.
Continue on into Andorra La Vella (the capital) shop till you drop with a main street rammed with stylish fashion, electrical goods, perfumes, delicatessens etc. Remember, this country is duty free and here is a shoppers Mecca. Within 2 hours drive is Barcelona, Toulouse, Perpignan, of course Spanish and French shoppers alike come in there droves to take advantage of the savings to be made. After shopping, walking, skiing, boarding, biking or any one of the many activities you may partake, you must go to Caldea. In the heart of the capital a modern glass pyramid houses Caldea. A thermal leisure centre designed to provide all kinds of relaxation and fitness: hydro-massage, Jacuzzi, Hammam, Indian-Romanic baths, Saunas etc...

Soldeu area

Soldeu is a small town. During winter it is very focussed on Skiing and Snowboarding. Recent ski lift additions add vast amounts of additional pistes and link into the Pas de la Casa and Grau Roig lift systems. Après ski is great but not too rowdy. OK to take kids. Skidoos can be hired, Dog sledging, Helicopter rides, Paragliding, Rattracking, Igloo building are just some of the activities. Ski school is excellent. Kindergarten facilities for non skiing and skiing children are superb. The available piste is 250 Kms, with 108 runs in total, 17 Green, 36 Blue, 34 Red and 21 Black. With 914 snow cannons you are virtually guaranteed snow throughout the season.
A rough guide for ski costs 2005/6 season :-
Lift Pass - approx. £110 for 6 days
Ski School (voted by Sunday Times as Best in Europe)
Group lessons £60 mon to fri 3hrs per day, or private lessons approx £20 per hour
Kindergaten costs approx £66 for 5 days.

Summer fun is also assured. With lots of sunshine, hikers can get lift to top of mountain and walk down hill, surely the best way to walk. This also applies to mountain bikers whom can hire bikes at the top and cycle down some very extreme routes. The Huskys don't get the summer off either, at the top they are available to pull strange wheeled contraptions ("Mushing on Wheels").
At village level our apartment is across the road from a wonderful riding stables. Horse riding from your doorstep into the mountains and valleys.
Also next door to the apartment is The Piolets Park Spa Hotel. This provides all the entertainment you'd want with bars restaurants, entertainers and kids club. Additional facilities at Hotel is the swimming pool, outdoor jacuzzi, sauna steam room, gym, table tennis, internet etc..
Other side of the village is the new Sport Hotel's 5 star spa complex. This is real unadulterated luxury with what must be the finest spa facilities in Europe. Pool's, jacuzzis, warm stones, realaxation treatments etc. All this within a 400 yard stroll. Not cheap but great way to relax and unwind.

How to get there

Fly to Barcelona, Outside terminal take Novatel bus service direct to apartment. Alternately hire car approx 2 hr drive.
Fly to Perpignan, France, car hire or taxi. (bus service may be available)
Fly to Toulouse, France, car hire or taxi. Bus service is avaialble.
Drive direct from UK to Andorra through France. Dover Calais morning then stopover for one night around Chateauroux Deols, Etap right on motorway. Arrive next afternoon in Andorra. Alternately Portsmouth to St Malo overnight crossing then approx 8 hour drive to Andorra.

TV, DVD, CD, tape, radio and Video player are available. We current have a handful of DVDs and videos to view. I suggest you take some of your own as TV is only Spanish or French. Also we have a small selesction of books to chose from.

Apartment is directly in front of Piolets Park Hotel and Spa. This 4 star Hotel has an indoor/outdoor swimming pool, largest Jacuzzis I've ever seen, sauna, steam room, fitness room, massage and beauty treatments. The facilities are open to non residents for a daily fee of 9 euros in or 25 euros for a whole week.
Night life close by but not too loud. Kids welcome everywhere. Piolets Park also have children's entertainment during ski season. A kids club 4.30 to 6.00 pm. Then in the bar in the evening a kids disco/entertainer take over. Take advantage of the free facilities.

Conditions

30 % deposit with booking, balance 2 months prior to departure date. Refundable key deposit required before keys provided. Refunded upon return.
