The East Anglia region

Norfolk is th UK's sunniest county and a great place to visit at any time of the year. If you want Big Blue skies, we've got them. Miles of sandy beaches, we've got them.

Woodland walks, nature reserves, unspoilt countryside, yes, we've got all that too. Plus bags of history, 2000 years plus.

Snettisham

Snettisham is on Norfolk's Sunset Coast overlooking The Wash

Snettisham is a popular and pretty coastal holiday village located 5 miles from Hunstanton and - in the opposite direction - 6 miles from Sandringham. Also Brancaster: 8 miles. Burnham Market: 12 miles. Holkham: 17 miles. Wells next the Sea: 19 miles

On Snettisham's doorstep is the well known RSPB bird reserve near the beach. One of the greatest bird events occur right here in the winter when - at high tide - up to forty thousand pink-footed geese roost. It is a sight to behold!

There is an excellent regular bus services to Hunstanton and Kings Lynn and some services go via Sandringham. .

The village also offers many local amenities being served by a Post Office, a newsagent, garden centre, chemist, dentist, pet shop, hair and beauty salon, and a fish & chip shop. Snettisham also has a professional picture framers with its own art gallery where local artists exhibit their work much of which reflects the beauty of the Norfolk coast. There is even a truly old fashioned style bookshop in Snettisham's lovely market square. Snettisham village is served by two public houses: The Rose & Crown and The Queen Victoria. In addition, there are a number of eateries including a bistro called "The Old Bank", a teashop based in "The Granary" and "Poppyfields" Garden Centre and Restaurant.

Snettisham is a walkers haven as the village has miles of public footpaths - the ancient Peddars Way also runs nearby. Many of the houses in Snettisham are referred to as gingerbread houses as they are built of carrstone and have their own distinctive style and character.

"Quirky, Relaxing & Dog Friendly - Great Cottage"

We decided to book the Bolt Hole for a short, 4 night break for some R&R with our Cocker Spaniel after research, reading reviews and communication with Sarah the owner. We were looking to spend some t… More

Thank you so much for your wonderful, kind comments about The Bolthole, and myself! I'm glad you had a great stay and it's fab, for future guests, that you've given so much information about the area and the dog friendliness you found. As a dog owner myself, I love it that I can take my two just about everywhere with me. I do hope to welcome you and your dog to The Bolthole for another stay at some point. Thank you again.

"A great short break getaway"

This is a beautifully decorated cottage in a nice quite location. It is ideally situated for visiting many of the counties attractions, not least of which are the gorgeous beaches - we did 6 in less t… More

Thank you for your kind comments about my cottage and I'm glad you enjoyed your stay. It was indeed awful that the boiler, which is only a year old, chose to take it's own Easter holiday! It is now fixed, and hopefully we'll have no further problems. My plumber tried his best and as you said, got it working, but when it failed again, it was impossible to get a part straight away due to the Easter break. I am also sorry to hear that you had trouble parking outside the cottage. This doesn't normally happen. Next door, to the left, is also a holiday cottage, and it appears that we have inconsiderate people staying there at the moment. I ask my guests to park with care and respect their neighbours. Normally there's no issue. However, parking is always available in the Old Coal Yard which is more or less directly opposite.I will speak to the owner of the cottage next door and ask that he, in his notes to guests, requests that they too are considerate with parking.

"A lovely cosy cottage, immaculately presented throughout."

A lovely cottage which has been designed to be quirky but stylish but maintains the true cottage feel and is perfect for a real chill out break! On arrival the cottage was spotless and we were able to relax and unwind straight away. The owner was brilliant from the first contact and nothing was too much trouble.
The beaches in the area are lovely and our two dogs loved the walks and then sleeping in front of the gorgeous open fire. Thanks Sarah for the initial supply of logs and the very welcome wine, bread and milk!!
We were happy to stay in in the evening and enjoy the warm and comfortable environment.
We particularly loved Old Hunstanton beach and enjoyed lunch at the Lodge.
We would definitely recommend the Bolthole for anyone wanting to get away from it all! Just pack a few clothes and everything else is catered to! You will love it and so will your four legged friend!!

Hi there!
Am so sorry you felt disappointed with your stay. Obviously that's not what I like to hear! I am priced well for what I offer. Guests get a well appointed cottage and don't have to buy everything from scratch. It is of course always possible to get cheaper but if nothing is left for you, the costs soon mount up. And I really do take care on details, decor etc, as I think you mentioned. Glad you liked the v comfy bed. I have never claimed to be 'five star' accommodation. My guests have chosen to rate that as their overall experience. I will of course take your comments on board and look for any feasible way I can improve, as always. Thank you for your feedback.

"A home from home."

We stayed at the bolthole for a long weekend, and what a fabulous place it was. The owner Sarah has done an excellent job at making it a real home from home,it is a real cosy and comfortable place.
The bolthole has recently had some refurbishments, and now offers a separate dining area leading out onto the garden and a lovely big bathroom.
Sarah's attention to detail makes it a really lovely place to stay, and it is a good base for exploring North Norfolk.
I would definatly recommend a stay at the Bolthole, and would happily return myself.
