Malta is considered to be very safe and welcomes all nationalities. Taxis are abundant whilst car, motorbike and bicycle hire are widely used. Driving is on the left, like England. English is Malta's second language (Malta has its own language, Maltese) and is widely spoken, followed by Italian.
The Sliema area
Sliema is approx. 5km from the 500year old cultural and semi-silent capital city, Valletta and approx. 12km from the previous old medieval city, Mdina. It is undoubtedly Malta's fashionable seaside, bustling town with sea promenades, shopping facilities, restaurants, hotels and beaches.
Most of the annual 60,000 international students attend their English schools and reside in Sliema. Swimming and most aquatic sports are along the seafront whilst the red coloured sandy beaches are found on the north of Malta, approx. 16km away and are reachable by bus or other transport. Bus and ferry transport are frequent, efficient and reasonably priced.

The apartment had all the facilities and was clean and tidy. Bed was comfortable too. The apartment was quiet and we did not hear anyone in other apartments. Frank, the owner, was always available for help or give advice and is a most congenial man. Should we visit Malta again we will definately use this apartment.

“An excellent aprtment with an excellent host”
This is one of the best apartments we've ever rented. It's very well equipped and located. Frank, the owner, is very welcoming and helpful and nothing was too much trouble for him. Highly recommended.

“A very nice place - very well managed by the friendly owner!”
We stayed beginning of April. The accomodation is a very large and airy Studio with a very nice roof terrace (with table and chairs) which was sunny all day long and had lovely views towards the sea. Frank was extremely friendly and helpful without being intrusive. Everything from kitchen to shower worked well, it was clean and the Studio was very well equipped from beach stuff to hair dryer to pegs etc. There was also a large modern air conditioning unit which worked very well, but you can also open windows at night. The double bed was comfortable and the bedding and pillows were very clean. There is a gas hob and an electric oven together with a large fridge/freezer. Little corner shops which stock everything are nearby and the place is in a pleasant and quiet residential area in a clean and tidy modern block of flats (4 storeys with lift). The next bus stop to Valletta was 3 minutes walk away while the walk to the sea front was approx. 7 minutes and to St. Julian's seafront approx. 7 to 10 minutes as well. We enjoyed our stay and we'll be back! R. and D. :)
“Well situated, comfortable, with a great landlord”
All the ingredients for a great holiday, comfortable bed, large powerful shower, well equipped kitchen, sunny spacious balcony. Frank was a great landlord, handled airport transfers for a small fee including picking us up at midnight! Appreciated his 'starter pack' of essentials and his willing and helpful advice. Local shops and bus service close by, also Sliema(ferries) and St Julians both within walking distance, great for the independent traveller.

“Cozy, charming, comfortable and convenient ...”
... maybe not your typical tourist digs, but if you're an independent-minded traveler, it's a great place to get a sense of living in Malta. Grocery shopping and buses are practically outside your front door, and a short walk downhill takes you to the bustling cafes, shops and ferries of the Sliema harborfront. Added bonus: a terrific view of Valletta from the terrace. And Frank is a terrific landlord/neighbor -- very helpful, accommodating, and fun.

“Comfortable apartment for2”
We stayed in this apartment for one week.the owner ( frank ) couldn't do enough for us.the location was further out than we thought, also uphill.getting into sliema wasn't a problem, the return journey was.but once we sorted out where the bus stops were and the times to catch the bus it was fine.facilitys in apartment were ok.the seating on the balcony could be improved. One further point I would like to make, the pick up and drop of at the airport is a bonus as you would struggle to find the apartment otherwise.
“Good convenient location, cosy apartment and Frank very helpful and accomodating.”
Found this apartment cosy and comfortable with everything we needed during our 11 day stay in June. The outside verander is large and we ate out there a few evenings. Sliema is the best place to stay on the Island of Malta (I have been here at least 35 times) to get around and many buses now go direct from Sliema to sandy beaches (Ghan Tuffieha being the best, but there are steps down to it) and other locations like Mdina 'The Silent City'. Be warned that bus timetable from Valletta with a route map does not have all the routes on it. So make sure you ask at Sliema or Valletta for information and an individual timetable etc. You can get a 5 minute ferry to Valletta or the bus is at the end of the road. Do not miss St John's Cathedral In Valletta which is only 6 Euro's to go in with a recorded guide or a harbour cruise which you can take from Sliema. Frank picked us up and dropped us back to the airport and we gave him a shopping list so when we arrived we had the basics to get started. Frank lives in the flat below and is extremely helpful and always on hand. We enjoyed our stay and would recomend Frank and his apartment which although we did not need it also has air con. A must in July and August. Thanks for everything Frank.

“The perfect place”
My partner and I have just spent a week in Malta staying in this lovely apartment and can honestly say we can't fault it, or the hospitality we were shown from the owner Frank.
This penthouse apartment was ideal for our trip to Malta. It has a great homely feel to it, a superb balcony that gets sun all day (with gas bbq) and is very well kitted out. Our landlord Frank was... more
“Fantastic base for visiting Malta: lovely appartment, great owner”
We really enjoyed spending a week at this apartment in Sliema in April 2012. The apartment was comfortable and had everything we needed. The big balcony was great: good views, and we made use of the BBQ. The apartment is well situated - walking distance to the centre of Sliema (for ferry to Valletta and buses around the island) plus lovely Balluta and Spinola Bays. The owner Frank is extremely helpful and made us feel very welcome: transfers from/to the airport and some food provisions to start the week were a great start to the holiday. I'd recommend the apartment without hesitation.

“This apartment is a gem, as is the owner, as is the island.”
This studio apartment is not the Ritz just as Malta is not Necker and Sliema is not Cannes. But it is an exceptionally well equipped roof top apartment with a large south facing terrace, close to bus... more
This is a studio apartment that has been built on the roof of a residential apartment building. It is well built with a lovely outdoor area with BBQ that has views towards Balluta bay. It is a studio apartment so basically all in one room with a raised sleeping area and bathroom with great shower. Kitchen area is complete with all bits and pieces to self cater if required. There is an efficient reverse cycle air conditioner which will be needed when it is warm especially as it isn't particularly insulated being on the rooftop. The owner Franck lives in the apartment below and is extremely helpful and welcoming, there is plenty of towels both bathroom and beach and a hairdryer also. It is located in the residential suburb of Gzira which is between Balluta Bay and Sliema/Manoel Island side. There is a bus route to Valletta and Sliema not far from the apartment, but the new bus system is still very much in transition and even the locals don't seem to be able to work it out, hopefully that will improve soon as the old buses were great for getting about. Our only complaint was about the transport options really, we were diving daily from St Georges Bay and it was almost impossible to find transport to and from our apartment other than our as always helpful dive centre (Cresta) and taxis for the evening. Fortunately we discovered that if you don't use the cabs on the street but phone for either Wembley cars or eCabs they are much cheaper than the taxi stands. Usually only 5-6 euros to and from St Julians for example for the restaurants. You can walk there in about 20 mins but be warned there is a 'big' hill on the return journey... Not great in heels! Overall a lovely quiet apartment but if you want to be in the middle of it, with the new bus system, you are a little isolated.

“Fantastic apartment.”
We come to Malta about 4 times per year, and this was undoubtedly the best apartment we've stayed at. Frank (the very helpful owner) had thought of absolutely everything you could ever want or need in the apartment. It is a fantastic little place and we found it just perfect for our needs.

“A lovely little apartment with everything you need to enjoy a short stay in Malta.”
Frank is very helpful when making the booking and offers extras like cheap airport transfers and stocking the fridge and cupboards with essentials before you arrive.
If you forget anything the apartment has loads of hangers, a hair dryer, an iron, spare bath and beach towels etc. Frank lives in the apartment below so you know he is there if you need anything.
We really enjoyed the balcony area in the evenings and there is a BBQ out there which we didn't use but it was nice to know it was there.
It is a bit of an uphill walk to the apartment but it's in a good location easy to walk to Sliema sea front and St Julians.
I would recommend this apartment to friends and look at staying again next time I visit Malta.

“Platz satt, alles da, große Terrasse, totale Privatsphäre”
Sehr liebevoll eingerichtetes kleines Appartment mit allem was man braucht.
We have had a really good time in this nice, cosy apartment. Everything you need, you'll find there. The terrace is really big and absolutely private. The owner Frank makes you feel like at home in his house. If you need anything he will be there to make it possible.
I'm sure we will come back and so I stop telling you how nice this apartment is, otherwise it is not available when we want to book it next time.

“Wonderful little appartment, great value for money.”
A great little appartment, exactly as described. Frank is a lovely person and couldn't do enough for us.The appartment is very comfortable and has everything you need for self catering. It is only a short walk to the waterfront of Sliema or St juliens and all the shops and restaurants you need. We had a wonderful holiday made better by having a lovely place to come back to relax at the end of a busy day at the shop,s cafes and trips out. I would not hesitate to recommend this appartment to anyone.
