Home description
Ashlake is a traditional Maltese town house in an excellant location. It is walking distance to both St Julians and Sliema centre. These towns are the hub of activity in Malta. There is a huge selection of Bars and Restaurants, Discos, Designer shops, Cafes and supermarkets, as well as beautiful promenade walks along the seafront.
Through the front door, there is a stone floored hall way. Stairs lead up to an open plan kitchen, dining and living room, with a traditional Maltese gallerija and decor. The living area is air conditioned and contains a bed. There is an adjoining en suite wc and shower room. Upstairs is the sleeping area, comprising 2/3 bedrooms and a shower room. The larger bedroom opens onto a sunny balcony. The house has a well equipped kitchen and a utility room.

The Island of Malta region
The Island of Malta is a truely friendly place. The locals are helpful and most of them speak English. The climate is mediterranean, with mild winters and lovely hot summers. There is plenty to do, like fishing, walking, cycling, visiting Hagar Qim and Mnajdra temples; these are older than stonehenge. Take a harbour cruise or go to the craft village where you can buy traditional Maltese arts and crafts. The nightlife is great, loads of nightclubs, bars and restaurants. You can also take a ferry to the sister Island Gozo for the day. The Blue Grotto is one of malta highlights, and Mdina which is the silent city with stunning views and museums and palaces, Marsaxlokk Market is a fun day out because you can see the colourful Maltese fishing boats, buy fresh produce off the market, and try out the local fish restaurants.
Sliema area
Just a few minutes walk is Sliema seafront promenade where you can go on a harbour cruise around the Island. There is a water taxi straight to Valletta, where you can visit the museums, palaces, cathedral and historical landmarks associated with the Knights of St John. Along the Sliema waterfront you will find some of the best bars and restaurants in Malta. This seafront walk takes you into St Julians which is the capital of the Nightlife in Malta. Here you can visit the best Hotels, Discotechs, Nightclubs, Bars, Restaurants, Bowling Alley and 16 screen cinema complex. There are several shopping centres close by and also some nice designer shops.
How to get there
Ryanair fly From Luton to Malta direct with bargain fares. Britishjet is a lowcost airline that flies direct to Malta from Bristol Airport, East Midlands, Exeter, Birmingham, London, Manchester www.britishjet.com. Monach, Thomson Holidays, British Airways etc.
You can catch a taxi straight from the airport to the house, or contact the owner and they can arrange to pick you up for a small extra charge. Car hire is not essential, as most things are within walking distance, or an easy ride on public transport.

Further details indoors: Ashlake house has been carefully restored to the traditional Maltese stone finish, and features the original Maltese patterned tiled floors. This type of house remains cool in the summer months. One of the upstairs bedrooms, enjoys beautiful views across the harbour to Valletta.
Further details outdoors: There is a good size balcony to sit out in the sunshine. On the corner along the road there is a traditional pastizzi (cheese cakes) shop, which are a Maltese delicacy, and cost only a few pence each. Try them out. Within a few minutes walk you will find a supermarket and all the shops you may need.

I am Emilio, from Malaga, Spain and me and my 2 children stayed at Ashlake House. The house is close to both St Julians and Sliema town. We like Malta and would like to come back. We had 10 English lessons, with John and Dee and they teach English. We had a good time. Thank you very much.
