BookThe Island of Malta region
Gzira is right in between Malta's two most popular cities; Sliema & St. Jualians.
Sliema and the coastline up to neighbouring St Julian's constitutes Malta's main coastal resort. It is a centre for shopping, restaurants, caf'e life, nightlife and all forms of entertainment.
Sliema is also a major commercial and residential area and houses several of Malta's most recent hotels. It is full of shops, restaurants, banks, supermarkets, Internet cafes, and day cruise boats. The road continues north to St. Julians and Paceville and southward towards the Strand Gzira, Ta Xbiex , Msida and Valletta.
There are plenty of seats along the promenade and on summer evenings the seafront becomes a sociable meeting place for locals. The coastline has two tower fortifications: a De Redin watch tower built in the 17th century; the other was built by the British in neo-gothic style in the 1880s.
A truly magnificent area! :)

After booking on line through a website called "owners direct.co.uk/malta244" owned by a Mr. Ben Camilleri, we were greeted on arrival after a 25 hour trip from Australia to a horrible... more |

Modern "Luxury"? May be modern, but it is a half star, it has no luxury whatsoever. We paid for two weeks and stayed for 32 hours. The owner offered to pick us up at the airport at 11:00 at night, but a friend of his showed up. The charge was 25 euros and the taxis charge only 20 euros. We never saw the owner. He was more interested in the money, which he kept for the two weeks we paid in advance, and returned 90 euros from the 100 euros deposit, for gas/electricity and water, for a 32 hour stay. His response to my email about hot water came with basic information and the question: What time are you leaving? No questions about how we were doing or if we found everything OK. We could not stay any longer in this dark, filthy, cheap place. Let me list some of the highlights: No heat (it was cold in December); No coffee maker; No towels; No instructions on anything at all (gas water heater is complicated); No matches for the propane range (tank under the sink); No maps or any information about shopping, restaurants or activities or a simple map; hard old bed; dirty plastic bowls; no tea towels; cheap lighting (candles are better); dirty table, windows and cloth rack; wire hangers mostly for children and no rod to hang a dress or a coat; an extra pillow seemed to have blood stains (I have a picture of it); TV uses a card for pirating 4 local game channels, it seems; balcony is unusable, small and dirty. If you are coming from another country, you would expect some of the basics in place. This was not the case. Response: Thank you for your review. May you please note that management of this property has changed & all above enquires have been solved as you can see from our latest reviews. We do apologize for any inconvenience caused and would be happy to offer you a free stay on our newly refurbished apartments if you are ever back in Malta again. Sincere apologies once again. Regards, The Management. |

Flat near Sliema, small, dirty but with air conditioning. Ben is a very polite guy. When you arrive shows you the apartment, then you give him 100 euros deposit and he desappears. If you need something like a second key, a mop, something to cook like a frying pan or something to make coffe you have to buy it. And the electricity and water is really expensive, more than 6 euros per day but if you want hot water or sleep with the air consitioning is more expensive. Response: May I thank you for your review. Please note that this was a late booking and I did my outmost to find this client a property (he did not stay in the apartment advertised here - but I found him another apartment in the same block belonging to a friend of mine) - This client turned up with 3 people when I was told they would only be two; however we did not charge extra - however this is why the water & electricity bill was more expensive than normal - it usually varies between €2-4 per day for 2 people. The client kept asking for additional things that were never listed on the advert (not even if he came to my apartment would he have got these things) such as a coffee machine - we offer a kettle but no coffee machine; sorry. Also just to clarify re; the refundable deposit. I emailed client to send me over his bank details to refund deposit - however when we calculated the water & electricity bill we released that he owed me more than I needed to refund him (this guest was over for a long period) - I kindly asked him to send me the money he owed me but I never heard from him again so I had to pay the difference myself. Client satisfaction is of utmost importance to us. Thank you once again for your feedback. Regards, Ben |
