The Sporades/Evia region
"Sporades" means "those scattered" (compare with "sporadic"), and was used from Classical Antiquity to refer to the Aegean island groups outside the central archipelago of the Cyclades
Explore the Sporades islands, in the northwest Aegean! Dense vegetation; rocky landscapes, and pure blue seas: a uniquely alternative destination. Go island-hopping in a paradise island complex!
Looking for a peaceful island to enjoy your family holidays? Skopelos is your destination! Find yourself in a green surrounding with rich pine forests, crystal blue seas and sandy beaches! Taste the famous cheese-pie of Skópelos, and have a shot of oúzo in tavérnas by the sea!
Are you a movie fan? Trace the paths of the exciting film “Mamma Mia”! Yes, the amazing chapel on the rocks (where the wedding ceremony took place) really exists! It’s “Saint Ioannis Chapel” in Skópelos!
It is said that Skopelos is the greenest of all the Greek islands and once you have spent some time exploring this magical place it is a difficult claim to deny. With five million pines, fifty thousand olive trees and only five thousand inhabitants it is a place where the natural world dominates and the heat of the beaches is fringed by the cool of the forests.
There are also many broad leaf trees to be seen including sweet chestnuts, walnuts and oak trees, as well as a variety of wild flowers and orchids. In addition, the island was once famous for the production of plums which were dried in the many plum ovens that create one of the myriad of architectural features seen throughout Skopelos.
Skopelos has a fabulous, varied coastline of sweeping beaches, rugged cliffs and azure blue seas. All but a couple of the beaches are made up of pebbles - ideal for snorkelling. Skopelos Town has a good variety of waterfront tavernas, bars and cafes, as well as original pottery shops.
