Villa | 2 bedrooms | sleeps 5
Villa Eleonora is named after the falcons that swoop over its elevated position above the unspoiled hill village of Glossa (only 10 minutes away with its shops and tavernas). Its secluded location feels private, despite its proximity to the beaches, the port, the Mamma Mia church and the village itself, and the villa is not overlooked by anything but the beautiful birds and wildlife. The views are truly staggering, taking in the islands of Evia, Skiathos and the Pelion, and away to the mainland as far as Mt Parnassus and closer to home down to the village of Glossa and its port of Loutraki The villa itself is built by hand in the traditional style of the island, with open-beamed ceilings of chestnut and pine, wooden balconies and tiled roofs, complemented by a modern clean touch and up-to-date fittings and equipment. It is a truly unforgettable experience.
There are plenty of outside spaces, verandahs, terraces , tables, seating areas and a barbecue to enjoy and eat alfresco in the wonderful climate of this Greek Island paradise.
The pool enjoys a private and ample lounging area, wooden cushioned pool furniture, stunning views and it is gated off for child safety. The pool itself is 8m x4m with marble steps and night lights.
The villa is in a perfect location as a base for exploring the island and the island itself offers perfect mountain biking, walking, bird watching and sea kayaking opportunities which can be arranged prior to your arrival as well as guided tours and trips.
Coast/Beach: Our nearest swimming beach is a ten minute drive from the house. It is a sheltered, sandy, clean and safe beach. This beach adjoins the village and is therefore close to amenities such as shops, and tavernas. There are scores of small, quiet beaches in the area that are ideal for bathing and picnics to be found on both sides of the island as close as ten minutes from the house.

To help you to get the most out of your holiday information about the villa, local amenities and other relevant information will be sent to you before arrival.
For activities there is stand up paddle boarding which I am setting up for 2014. Paddling with Sporades Sup is a fun way to get around and to see the island in a different way. Lessons and tours are part of the schedule, if you are interested just mention it in your enquiry.
There is also kayaking and mountain biking.
This year the island is hosting its first cycling race called the Delphi Devil. It will be 70km and held on the 10th May 2014. Villa Eleonorae will be a perfect place to spend a couple of days preparing before and recuperating afterwards!
The Sporades/Evia region
Skopelos island is the largest of three islands that make up the Northern Sporades, which are situated north of Evia.
Skopelos is largely unspoilt by tourism and it has much to offer all visitors. It is known to the Greeks as a green island with clear waters and great natural beauty.
As well as many beaches, coves and tavernas the island has a lot more to offer. It has a history which transcends the neolithic period, Greek mythology, Roman and Byzantine eras and to the present day.
There is also the strong Greek culture which has stood the test of time and is apparent every where here. The island produces many local foods, including smoke dried prunes, wines, Tsiporou, nuts, fruit and vegetables.
In terms of holiday activities the island is beginning to promote eco friendly activities to take advantage of its suitable topography and marine areas. These include mountain biking hire and tours, there is terrain here suitable for beginners and more experienced riders.
There is also sea kayaking, walking and birdwatching opportunities.
All islands interconnect easily in the summer enabling all three to be visited without difficulty, due to the numerous hydrofoils and ferries operating daily.
Glossa, Loutraki and Skopelos Island
Glossa and Loutraki are on the northern end of the island. They both offer a good variety of amenities.
The two local villages Glossa and Loutraki offer a wide range of amenities such as restaurants, bars, shops, bakeries, chemists and banks. Glossa has a good tourist information center.
The nearest medical centre is in Skopelos.
Both Glossa and Loutraki offer excellent local colour in the form of restaurants and tavernas. For those seeking the bright light Skopelos offers a vibrant night life.
The local restaurants have a great variety of mainly Greek food to offer. Whether you are looking for a quick snack or a full on meal the island will meet your needs.
Travel: Visitors to the island generally fly into neighbouring Skiathos, there are plenty of charter flights to skiathos during the summer. A five minute taxi from the airport will take you to the ferry/hydrofoil ticket office, which offers regular ferry/hydrofoil connections to Loutraki and takes no more than 30/20 minutes. The house is located fifteen minutes by car from Loutraki harbour where you will be met and brought to the villa. Car hire is recommended and can be organised prior to arrival.
Glossa (nearest village) - 5 minutes. Loutraki (village and beaches) - 15 minutes. Skopelos (principal town) - 45 minutes.

The producers of Mama Mia definetly got it right when choose Skopolos to make their movie. The island is absolutly stunning and Villa Eleonorae seemed the perfest place to marvel at its beauty. We spend hours relaxing while enjoying the view from the pool and the terrace a bit higher up. The villa is located in the perfect direction to watch the sun go down.
The guest house is build according to the local architecture, is very functional and was spotless when we arrived.
Shane, the owner, even offers padlle boarding. We took a lesson and really enjoyed it.
So, yes we will be back.

"Perfect Villa on a Perfect Island"
We loved every minute of our stay in this villa. Shane was the perfect host. He was attentive and helpful but not in any way intrusive. The villa is amazing. It is so secluded! The view is breathtaking and changes every hour or two.The villa has everything you should need to cater for your stay. Shane has paid real attention to detail. We really couldnt fault the villa in any way. The island is quiet and just a real dream. The restaurants are amazing and great value. I would suggest a jeep for your stay as some of the roads are quite challenging.
We stayed here on our own and had the most fabulous romantic week.We loved every minute, so much so that we paid our deposit for next year before we left the island! Next year we are staying for two weeks and bringing our family over for the second week.
