Northern England region

The Yorkshire Dales is home to over 1,500 square kilometres of the renowned Yorkshire Dales National Park, which is characterised by its unspoilt Dales villages, patchwork of dry stone walls and stunning fells and dales countryside. Visitors are able to travel for miles along quiet country roads, surrounded by magnificent views in every direction; an area dotted with ancient farming communities and rural villages which is typical of this region. This area is perfect for a truly relaxing holiday away from all the stresses and strains of day to day life, where you rediscover a gentler pace of life. It's also great for enjoying a whole host of outdoor pursuits including some of the very best walks in the UK.

The Olde Institute is located in the peaceful village of Starbottom, not far from the popular village of Buckden. Starbottom itself is an excellent spot for exploring the dales, with a number of walking and cycling opportunities lying at its doorstep. The nearby river Wharfe is also good for fly fishing and the local pub offers a friendly place to enjoy a hearty meal after a long day of exploring the area; the village is certainly a haven of calm and tranquillity. The nearby village of Kettlewell is also well worth a visit, with its annual scarecrow festival, limestone terraces, pubs, café and village stores, this small but vibrant village has plenty to offer the visitor. Those with a passion for the outdoors may also enjoy a trip to Buckden, where visitors can enjoy walking, climbing, caving and other outdoor pursuits. The village is also home to a good mixture of pubs, a restaurant and a local tea room, perfect for those looking for a little relaxation in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales.
