This idyllic stone built 17th Century Cottage, 4/5 bedroom property, has a 'secret passage' that leads to the hub of the village in less than 1 minute and yet tucked away in a 'hidden' street, that enables the garden to become a quiet sanctuary from the lively village life.

The property includes many original features, including Yorkshire stone floors in the kitchen, original exposed beams, an open fire in the dining room, and new for this coming winter - a log burning stove in the lounge.

The mature and well stocked garden benefits from sufficiently high garden walls to ensure privacy, yet big enough to enjoy the sun all day round. Perfect for a Gin and Tonic on the patio, watching the sun set!

There is off road parking for two cars, and the owners are happy to welcome one well behaved pet, making this the most perfect family vacation.

Set in the Yorkshire Dales National Park is the little village of Grassington. Composed of traditional stone cottages and various shops clustered around the cobbled market place, this village is even host to a monthly farmer’s market offering organic and home-made local produce. Located on the banks of the River Wharfe and close to the extensive Grass Woods, this village is a wonderful place for walkers and cyclists. Bolton Abbey is close by and is home to its Abbey ruins, the Priory and the famous “Strid Walk”. A little further afield are the elegant towns of Ilkley, Kettlewell and Buckden - boasting spectacular limestone scenery, whilst the Cathedral city of York is within easy driving distance, and boasts amongst other things, the world reknowned Viking Museum, York Dungeons and National Railway museum

With so much to see and do in the surrounding area, Grassington provides a great base for an exciting holiday.

"Cracking house but needs a good clean"

We had a lovely time over the Easter bank holiday weekend. The house couldn't be in a better location for the village and walks in the surrounding areas, which to be honest is why we chose it. Co… More

"Gorgeous views over the dales from beautiful windows"

This house is an absolute gem. It was very easy to arrange the break directly via Paul, who was very polite. The location of the house, which is an village of Grassington, but also kind of a little bit out the way is perfect. The house is big and comfortable. From the bedrooms, we had fantastic views over the dales. The house a garden, which we used even though it was winter and it was fab, as our three young boys could venture out safely and build a snowman. We would be absolutely and definitely going back.

"Will be returning soon!"

This house is AMAZING! Spotlessly clean and wonderfully equipped, the owners have somehow managed to create a warm, cosy, comfortable place to stay despite the sheer size of the house. Some of the r… More

"Character cottage in lovely village"

The cottage was full of character and in a perfect location in the popular village of Grassington. There is plenty to do in the area and fantastic walking. There are several choices of eating places. Of course with an old house there are some drawbacks such as noisy pipes. Also beware the narrow streets and be careful when parking. The cottage was generally well-equipped although more place settings would be useful (only 5 of us and we ran out at times). Cottage could have been a bit cleaner when we arrived. Booking went smoothly with payments on-line. It was a bit unclear how damage deposit would be returned.

"Lovely House in an ideal location"

We stayed at Ellesmere with another family - 8 of us in total with children ranging from 11 to 14. The house is in an ideal location just a couple of minutes walk into Grassington Village which is a lovely place to stay.

We arrived on the Saturday just as the snow had arrived the day before .... the journey was eventfull but we made it up there late pm just in time to sample the real ale in each of the 3 pubs before tea. We cooked at Ellesmere a couple of nights as the kitchen was so well equipped. We also ate out at The Devonshire Hotel on the Sunday evening - 2 x Steak meals and a bottle of wine for £25!!

The snow didn't stop us and we managed a couple of nice circular walks - one to Burnsall (approx 6 miles) and one to Kilnsey (approx 7 miles) - Red Lion at Burnsall and Tennants Arms at Kilnsey both do lovely food.

All in all a great stay and a place we will be returning to in the not so near future.
