The County Cork region
Ireland’s West Cork region has gained international recognition as one of the most picturesque and naturally beautiful places in Europe. It is rare to see such a large variety of stunning landscapes in such a small area and it is because of this, combined with the charming and hospitable nature of the locals living in the area that the region has become the favoured destination for so many people looking for that unique holiday experience. It is the perfect base from which to explore the South West of Ireland. It’s many lovely beaches, wild and rugged coastline, traditional market towns and fishing villages. Wherever you go from here, you will be greeted with smiles and a level of hospitality that is rare in any other part of the world.

Further details indoors: The house has been lovingly restored to reflect the unique character of old Ireland. Incredibly spacious interiors, a huge living room which boasts a stone fireplace over 5 feet high. All the modern conveniences required today have not been forgotten in this work of love. A huge room with an indoor heated pool and sauna are attached to the house and will no doubt keep everyone entertained on sunny and rainy days alike with an adjoining bar. A great place for adults to relax together or for the whole family to be adequately entertained and relaxed while sampling the unique Irish heritage.
Further details outdoors: West Cork Hideaway is nestled right in the heart of the West Cork District. 6km from the bustling town of Skibbereen, 500m from the well known Tragumna Beach. The driveway to the residence winds its way for 250m up a steep hill into the countryside and into a secluded little area amongst trees, bushes and stone walls to give the home total privacy, seclusion and tranquillity.
The residence is sitting on 1 hectare of land which is a rambling combination of stone walls, lovely lawns, shrubs, herbs, organically grown vegetables in season and a pond with a constant supply of flowing water. In every direction, there is an abundance of sweeping views across to scattered farmland and more remote mountainous regions covered in a patchwork of almost luminous green grass, grazing cattle and rocky outcrops. An overwhelming sense of beauty and peace pervades the air and one cannot help but take a second and third glance and stop to wonder at the stunning beauty of the place. The outdoor highlight of the residence is the huge stone courtyard that sits outside the living area. It is enclosed on two sides by the stone walls of the house and on the other two sides by a similarly made stone wall with a gate and archway leading onto the lawns and the pond. This area is a true favourite amongst guests during the warmer summer months, as the sun beams down warming all the surrounding stonework and creating an extremely cosy and pleasant place to while the long afternoons away. To help with this, a large stone BBQ has been built in the courtyard and is a great way to maximize enjoyment of the time outdoors in the sunshine.

Guestbook for West Cork Hideaway
We thoroughly enjoyed our time here in April. It was cold but the swimming pool was a great comfort at the end of the day after touring the area. The children were kept very happy, the hosts of the house and the people of Tragumna were all incredibly hospitable. Thank you, we will be back.
