Home description
This is the island where Mamma Mia was filmed and is even more beautiful than it looks in the film.
Villa Asteri is one of the largest villas on the island set in mature gardens with private swimming pool, located 2 minutes walk from Kolios beach. A 10 minute drive from Skiathos town.
A bright and spacious villa set over 2 floors with the bedrooms located on the ground floor. Most bedrooms have external doors opening out on to a shaded ground floor terrace or the lawned garden. There is also a small living room on the ground floor.
The main living area is situated on the first floor with spacious kitchen, dining and living areas, opening out on to a 1000 sq.ft. terrace with fantastic views of the beach, Kolios bay and the mountains beyond. Perfect for large adult groups or families with children.
If you are planning a wedding on Skiathos, this would be the perfect base for the bridal party. The villa is only a 5 minute drive from the Princess Hotel which is a very popular wedding venue.

The Sporades/Evia region
Skiathos is only 46 sq km, but many people choose to return for their holidays year after year for the simple fact that it has amongst the best beaches of the Greek islands, good quality tavernas, but most of all because it is still relatively unspoilt.
It is a lush, green island with over 60 beaches and depending on where you stay, you can have a quiet, relaxing holiday or a more active one enjoying water sports, tennis, horse riding and enjoying the night-life. The locals mainly live off tourism and agriculture. They grow olives, fruit and walnuts and there is both local honey and wine. Many of the islanders leave the island in the winter and work on the mainland.
Skiathos is a popular summer resort for British and Scandinavian holidaymakers. The Greeks also love Skiathos, and many wealthy Athenians have second homes here.
Skiathos / Kolios area
Even though Skiathos is such a small island, there are quite a few things to see. In Skiathos town you can discover the tiny winding streets, boutiques and souvenir shops.
There is also the Bourtzi, a tiny peninsula in the harbour which used to be a Venetian citadel, with remains of the 13 century wall and canons. Here, you can enjoy concerts, art exhibitions and puppet shows for children in the open air theatre.
The Evangelistra monastery is situated a 20 minute drive outside the town. It has some amazing surroundings and is open for the public. Children love the collection of cats, birds and dogs that live here. Evangelistra also has a small museum with various objects from its history. There is also an excellent shop here where you can buy icons, crucifixes, plates, T-shirts and even wine. There is a small, white bus that goes between the monastery and town several times a day.
You can also visit the medieval town of Kastro, either by going on one of the boat trips around the island, or driving almost all the way and then walking. Don't miss the Church of Christ and the old houses.
Kolios itself is set overlooking a beautiful bay. There is a taverna on the beach and near to the villa is Infinity Blue, a well known restaurant on the island which has attracted the likes of Pierce Brosnan and Roman Abramovich (as well as other rather less wealthy Greek and English families!).

Guestbook for Villa Asteri
"Such a beautiful location! We have enjoyed having breakfast overlooking the beach and drinks on the terrace in the evenings watching the fishing boats coming in to Kolios Bay. The children have had a wonderful time swimming at the beach in the morning and then coming back to the swimming pool at the house in the afternoon for a bit of shade. You were right about the car - there is such a good selection of tavernas nearby, we hardly needed to use it. We will definitely be coming back next year!" Mrs Rogers
