The Granary is a compact self-contained 18thC converted farm building in the garden of an old farmhouse, offering open plan self-catering accommodation over 2 floors with exposed brick and oak beams; rustic but comfortable. Extremely comfortable for a couple, it can also offer flexible accommodation for up to 4 adults plus cot.

The open plan living area downstairs comprises a well equipped kitchen area including microwave, hob, coffee maker, compact oven & dishwasher; dining table & chairs plus comfortable sofa; flat screen TV, DVDs & books ; secluded outdoor patio with table & chairs, plenty of secure parking. Reasonable use of owners' garden for children to run around and play!

Upstairs (also open plan) there is a luxurious superking sized double bed (which can also be split as separate twin beds) and separate shower room with WC. There is space for a cot (travel cot can be made available if you don't want to bring your own). There are 2 comfortable single fold-out futons for children/independent adults, which can be used upstairs or downstairs as you wish. Duvets, pillows, iron & hairdryer provided.

All heating, utilities and linen are provided; laundry facilities can also be made available by arrangement with owner.

We are on the edge of a small pretty village - the immediate area is rural and quiet, surrounded by fruit orchards; excellent local walking and good local pub food within 1 mile, local shops and supermarkets within 10 minutes drive. Very easy communication links for London, Bluewater, Eurostar, motorways and Channel crossings.

Breakfast/catering supplies can be provided by arrangement.

The South East England region

The county of Kent (the "Garden of England") offers a wealth of sights and activities together with areas of outstanding natural beauty, chalk downland, coast and marsh and well-tended farms and orchards.

Historic cathedral cities Canterbury and Rochester are both within a short drive, each with an interesting mix of shops, restaurants and attractions, celebrating also their respective literary connections with Chaucer and Dickens. The Historic Dockyard in Chatham has been proposed for World Heritage Status and offers a fascinating insight into our maritime and military history.

There are many castles (eg Leeds, Dover, Hever, Walmer, Deal) historic houses & fabulous gardens (National Trust, English Heritage & independent) within easy reach in Kent & Sussex.

Kent's coastline has many beaches and areas of marsh, including some nature reserves particularly good for birdwatching. Charming coastal towns such as Whitstable, Herne Bay, Deal and Broadstairs host a mix of seaside attractions both traditional and contemporary including fishing/boat trips, water sports, fish markets, shops and restaurants together with niche shops and galleries offering local arts and crafts.

There are many activities for families: country and theme parks, zoos, Diggerland, indoor activity centres and a local dry ski slope with tobogganing and snowtubing. There are local farm shops and golf clubs, lots of good walking country both on the doorstep and further afield, with picturesque villages and excellent pubs.

Full retail therapy is available at Bluewater or Ashford Retail Outlet Park, each within 30 minutes drive – and a day trip to France offers an exciting alternative for shopping/sight-seeing and a delicious lunch.

Frequent train services including High-Speed into London from Rainham just a couple of miles away. The A2, M2 and M20 can be reached within minutes, and the M25 is about 20 minutes away. Bluewater Shopping Centre is 25 minutes drive and Westfield (Stratford) 30 minutes by High-Speed train.

Ebbsfleet & Ashford International Stations are approximately 30 minutes drive, and there are car ferries and Eurotunnel crossings within an hour (at Dover & Folkestone).
