Caserio de Calahonda is a relatively small gated community of 47 apartments in 3 blocks. Situated in the sought after area of Jardines de Calahonda, adjacent to natural parkland, the atmosphere here is distinctly Spanish, with Moorish inspired architecture, pretty gardens, a tranquil courtyard and the scent of blossom in the air.

This large luxuriously appointed ground floor apartment enjoys direct access from its spacious private terrace to the delightful pool, which was completely refurbished in 2015 to a standard which surpasses EC and local regulations. Offering peace of mind to families with young children, the pool is fenced and gated, and of particular benefit to guests with restricted mobility it can be accessed via a non-slip ramp. Additionally, there is no need to negotiate any stairs when entering the apartment via this poolside terrace.

Indoors, the king sized master bedroom leads to a full ensuite bathroom and the double and twin rooms share a shower room with walk in over-sized shower. All bedrooms have mirror fronted wardrobes with plenty of hanging space. A bassinet is available (on request) for infants and there is also a highchair, (both complimentary). Docking stations are provided in all bedrooms and there is a television in the living room, (IPTV with 60+ UK and Irish channels), together with DVD player and entertainment centre. A selection of DVDs and CDs is on hand, as well as a choice of books and games. There is also a community library where you can browse through the large selection of books or borrow a DVD. There is a safe in the master bedroom and wi-fi is available at no extra charge. The master bedroom and living area have air conditioning/heating and each of the other bedrooms has a portable fan/heater. The fully fitted kitchen offers all mod cons and leads to the rear utility terrace, housing a washing machine.

In this wonderful climate al fresco dining is the norm and the terrace dining table will comfortably accommodate 6 people. There is a further suite where you can relax on the terrace with a pot of coffee or jug of sangria or you may prefer to lie back on a lounger and soak up the sun, (beach towels supplied). A barbecue is also provided. The terrace is partly covered and at any time of day offers a choice of sun or shade.

This is the ideal place to enjoy a relaxing pool or beach holiday but due to its location mid way between Fuengirola and Marbella, Calahonda is also a perfect base for sightseeing and for visiting many wonderful locations in Andalucia and Southern Spain. The Costa del Sol is a great choice for golf enthusiasts and the nearest courses are just minutes away from the apartment. From autumn right through to April visitors can even combine sun and snow as the ski slopes of Sierra Nevada are only two hours away. The apartment is a great choice for those who choose not to hire a car as all local amenities are within walking distance, public transport is cheap and reliable and bus stops for Marbella and Fuengirola are within easy reach.

A bassinet suitable for an infant as well as a highchair are available in the apartment, (both complimentary - please request in advance if required). If you require a larger cot this can be arranged through my local management company, which, in event of an emergency relating to the apartment, can be contacted at any time of the day or night. Cot hire and some of the services offered, such as mid stay clean or linen change, will incur an additional charge, payable direct to the management company.

A supply of beach towels is available on a 'goodwill' basis. You are welcome to borrow them if you would like to save on space/weight in your suitcase but I do ask that if you use them during your stay they are left washed and folded ready for the next guests.

All the rooms have docking stations and there's a Spanish mobile phone and universal phone charger for guests' use.

The apartment is a much loved second home and this is reflected in the quality of the furnishings and decor.

The Andalucia region

Perfect for a holiday at any time, the Costa del Sol is famous for its wonderful year round climate, with the temperature rarely falling below 60º F in winter and a year round average temperature of 75º F. Whilst this is a great location for a beach or golf holiday, there are numerous other attractions and activities to suit all ages. For a taste of the real Spain a short drive inland will take you to the ‘white villages’ of Ojen, Istan and Mijas and on a day trip slightly further afield you could discover Ronda, Nerja, Seville, Jerez, Cadiz, Granada or Gibraltar.

Sitio De Calahonda, Mijas

The area is served by Malaga airport, which is about 30 minutes drive from Calahonda. The main road is an excellent dual carriageway. Calahonda is only about 14 Kilometres from Fuengirola and 16 Kilometres from Marbella and although a car would be useful it is not essential to hire one as buses run every half hour to these towns, and are cheap and reliable. The local beach is a pleasant 10 minute stroll. Calahonda has numerous restaurants, bars and supermarkets and there are many attractions for all the family, including water parks, theme parks, riding stables, zoos, golf and water sports, all within a short drive.

"Fabulous property!"

We has 16 nights at this apartment and I can't say anything negative about it. Janet is very quick to respond to any questions and her manager Paul in Spain is the same. The apartment is in a perfect location for the pool, so if you have kids with you you can keep an eye on them. The pool is lovely and was never terribly busy this could be down to the extreme heat when we were there! It's gated so you would have no problems if you had very young children making an escape from the apartment! The apartment is beautiful, extremely comfortable, spacious with a fabulous terrace. It is well equipped if you do decide to cook. The beds are so comfortable and we did get Paul to do a change midway through our holiday. The sofas again are comfy with a great range of TV channels and a good selection of DVDs. Wifi was good for the kids and their devices and a must the air conditioning that we had to use at night time or we would have got no sleep. The complex has a mix of owners and holiday lets, we met some lovely people and Janet's neighbours Norman and Catherine were so welcoming and friendly. It's also very quiet and relaxing. The location is good, with Bar 97 a minutes walk from the apt, the beach an easy walk downhill, there are 2 good supermarkets en route to the beach, gift shop, chemist, la Luna beach is lovely with a great chiringuito, the staff are friendly with great inexpensive food. Puerto Cabopino is an easy walk with a great selection of restaurants. There is a strip with a good selection of restaurants a 10 minute walk the other way from the apartment. You can walk all the way to La Cala (4miles from the apt) on a board walk (10 mins on the sand) which we did a lot early in the morning, had breakfast there and then got the bus back. We didn't hire a car as we were quite happy to use the excellent bus service or taxis. We went to mijas pueblo by bus which really easy, got the bus to the water park. Taxi to Max beach so the kids could go on the bouncy castle in the sea. Cala Honda is not a resort as such more a residential area all the area around the complex is beautifully kept, I didn't like the main road that runs through cala Honda but apart from waiting on a bus you can forget it's there and is easily avoided. I can't recommend this apartment highly enough, this is our third visit to the costa del sol and our favourite accommodation.

"Beautiful apartment, great location"

We have just returned from a lovely 10 night stay in caserio de calahonda, the apartment is in a fantastic location and is very tastefully decorated with everything you could possibly need for your stay. Our party included 4 adults, 1 teenager and a baby, the owner was a fantastic help in providing information about the local area, organising a cot for the baby and recommending transport, places to eat etc. We were extremely happy with the whole booking process and support we received prior to the holiday. The apartment itself has a very spacious patio with a really nice rattan table to seat 6 people and a smaller seating area to the side. We enjoyed lots of meals here including a couple of BBQ's using the grill outside the apartment. A short walk from the apartment you'll find local supermarkets and bars and slightly further out (15mins walk) there are plenty of restaurants and bars at the El Zoco complex including chinese, japanese, mexican, italian, Spanish etc. The marina at Puerto Cabopino also has some lovely restaurant and bars and transport to other local towns is very frequent Overall we really enjoyed our holiday and would highly recommend a visit to Calahonda and Caserio de calahonda in particular.

"Was an ideal location for us and the accommodation was superb"

We looked for somewhere for 1 week to break up a 3 week stay on the costa. This apartment met out expectations and more, it was like being given someone's home for the week. Great location for us as we headed to Cabopina beach (5 mins drive) nearly every day and no shortage if decent restaurants within 10-15 minutes walk.

"Superb Apartment Brill holiday....what more is there to say!"

The apartment is beautiful, equipped with everything you would need and presented to a very high standard. The added bonus is its proximity to the pool....off the exceptionally large patio and splash into the pool! Calahonda is a very pretty area and there really is no need for a car as the bus service is so convenient to all the areas you will probably want to visit and reasonably priced, i.e. 1 euro 55 into Marbella. Cabopino Beach is a lovely walk ( around 15 mins ) with lovely restaurants and expensive boats to envy ( a bit like a mini puerto banus without the price tag! ) A taxi ride back to the villa was around 7 euros. We read other reviews re shopping and where to go but to be honest we found the local Lidl had everything we needed, their pollo fillets came highly recommended by the family! They also preferred the local beach too, Playa de Luna and the guys hiring the bed chairs were very friendly as were the staff in the beach café. We ate out two or three evenings but enjoyed Bogarts on the strip the best of all. Not to be missed, a few hours in Orange Square, Marbella, idled away with a lovely lunch and a jug of finest Sangria...heaven! The owner has left lots of information in the apartment along with a visitors book, so I would recommend a read at the beginning of your holiday as it helps you to get your bearings and a feel for Calahonda. Finally a big thank you to Janet for all help prior to our holiday and for the welcoming chilled prossecco on arrival, we would love to come back some time in the future.

"Great week in a lovely apartment"

Four of us thoroughly enjoyed a week in this excellent apartment. The accommodation is first class with every need catered for. The apartment is tastefully decorated. The terrace is ideal for relaxing in the sun.and the pool is an added attraction. During the day we enjoyed walking along the beach to Puerto Cabopino where there is a marina and several good restaurants. We also used the local bus to visit Fuengerola and Mijas. There is also a good mix of restaurants about 15 minutes walk from the apartment in the El Zoco Shopping Centre area. All in all a great holiday in highly recommended accommodation.

"Treasured memories of a Place and Time"

I stayed at this apartment with my elderly parents one of whom has minor mobility problems. The fact that it is a ground floor apartment suited the elderly, middle aged and young members of our group. In all we were a party of 5 and found the apartment very very spacious. The internal and external decor is magnificent and provided a calm relaxed feeling which was present from the 1st day. The apartment is well equiped with the things anyone could ever want or need for a wonderful holiday. Through a manual the owner has put a lot of time and effort into making sure holidaymakers have information about the area and some of the local attractions, she has even provided photgraphic instuuctions of how to get to shops and other regions of the Costa Del Sol. This was my first trip to Spain but I found these guides gave me a sense of knowledge and courage to explore. As it says in the manual, it is a much loved second home and having stayed there I would agree. We can't wait to return next year.

"Great apartment in secure area with everything close at hand!"

We stayed at Caserio in August for 2 weeks and loved it. We were 2 couples with a 3 and 2 year old and 9 month old baby and the apartment never felt overcrowded. We particularly liked the large terrace that was secure for the children and couldn't be closer to the pool. The apartment itself was immaculate and it was obvious that time and effort had been spent making it have a modern feel to it. Being August, we really appreciated there being air con in the master bedroom and living room. The kitchen was very well equipped and the appliances seemed almost new. It was also handy to have a barbeque there to use on the nights we wanted to eat in. The gated community felt very safe and other residents were friendly too. There is a small bar very nearby that serves food from 4 although we tended to walk to the slightly busier strip near El Zoco. The handiest supermarket was a 5 - 10 min walk downhill through the park although you could also walk to the slightly cheaper Mercadona in about 20 mins if you wanted. On a few occasions we caught the bus from the main road and went for days out or travelled to La Cala on an evening for a meal. Very straightforward to get to places and cheap. Within walking distance, better restaurants and bars were towards El Zoco although this took about 15- 20 mins. We had a few good meals here, including Bogarts on our final night. There's also an Irish bar where you can watch sport. In La cala there is a restaurant called El Olivo where we had our best meal. Get off the bus at the BP station just before central La Cala and its down a side street towrds the sea. Awesome food and service with great atmosphere. Bit pricey but worth it for a treat. Loved it! Plenty of golf nearby too. As we have stayed nearby before i use Sunshine Golf in La Cala to book all games. They have discounted prices to ones if you just went to the club direct, and very helpfull in telling you about all courses. they also rent clubs for your stay at good prices. We played Cabopino and Santana. Both nice but Santana very good but little dearer. Overall, we would recommend the apartment for its quality decor and fittings, its security and its location. Nothing bad to say about it and would stay again without a doubt. 2 weeks flew by too fast!!

"wonderful holiday in the sun"

I enjoyed every minute of my stay. the apartment is newly refurbished and beautifully done in neutral colours. The pool is right outside the gate, very inviting and clean. The grounds have colourful plants and well maintained. the terraces large and lovely to sit on (or lye on) I had my breakfast on the terrace every day and drinks in the evening. The shops are five minutes down the road were you can purchase fresh bread everyday and the beach is just past the shops although I only went to the beach once as it is was so convenient to sit by the pool.

"Perfect apartment for luxury in the sun"

We enjoyed our 10 day stay at this luxury apartment in May 2012. It had been completely refurbished and refurnished. Everything we could possibly want seemed to be available and ready for our use. The lounge is comfortable and we liked the style and decorations. It gives onto a well equipped kitchen. One side of the lounge/kitchen opens onto the balcony and the other side onto a large, private and well furnished patio. We spent many hours there. There is always a shady area if needed. Outside the low walled patio is a good sized and inviting swimming pool and well maintained gardens. It is close to a park, in a depression with very tall eucalyptus trees with their plumes of leaves. You can walk downhill along the edge of the park to shops and the beach Note: “Sitio de Calahonda” on the Costa del Sol should not be confused with the town of Calahonda on the Costa Tropical.
