Home description
Our house is an original stone built property and sleeps up to 6 people (2 double and 1 twin rooms).
The property is 5 minutes walk from the village square with tavernas, pizzeria and cafienon. Other shops also within minutes walking distance. Ideal for families and couples. Excellent views over surrounding valley and hills - sunsets from the rooftop main terrace can be seen with an excellent glass of Sitia wine !
Greek and UK neighbours are all very friendly and willing to help. The regional capital Sitia with its restaurants, shops etc. is just 5 minutes drive away and the main road by the village leads to the south coast (Libyan Sea).
There are also nearby roads leading into the hills which are well worth exploring with traditional villages and a way of life which has not changed much in the last 50 years or so.

The Crete region
The regional capital Sitia is just 5 minutes drive away and the main road by the village leads to the south coast (Libyan Sea). There are also nearby roads leading into the hills which are well worth exploring with traditional villages and a way of life which has not changed much in the last 50 years or so.
Sitia area
Sitia the regional capital is just 3 km down the road with a fine sandy beach, a splendid market every Tuesday, a fishing harbour with many restaurants and local delicious cake shops. In July-August there is usually the "Kornaria" cultural festivities including concerts, theatrical performances etc in Sitia and surrounding villages. There are other events throughout the year including a raki festival in Hamezi just outside the town
Sitia has many other excellent shops . From the harbour there are boat services to other islands and the spectacular north coast road is also nearby and well worth the experience!
There is also the internationally renowned excellent Sitia Olive Oil and Wine and the Venetian Fortress and Folklore Museum. There is the Toplou Monastery and also Minoan Palace Ruins at Kato Zakros together with the famous palm fringed beach at Vai (the only one in Europe) near Paleokastro.
The north coast road is well worth the effort for the views and villages and there is also the south coast (LIbyan sea) 45 minutes drive away with some magnificent beaches notably at Makrigalios (very good for small children!).
Irepetra, the southernmost city of Europe is just an hour's drive away and also worth a visit. Off the beaten track there are villages in the hills which are also worth seeing.
How to get there
By air : You can fly directly to Sitia Airport. Sitia City Airport is a 55 minute flight from Athens and there is an overnight ferry from Pireaus.
Flying directly to Iraklion International Airport "Kazantzakis" from any international airport of Europe.
By ferry from Pireas (Athens) to Sitia, Agios Nikolaos or to Iraklion. There is also a ferry from Agios Nikolaos, which call s in at Sitia on its way to Rhodes.

Further details indoors: The bedrooms are on the ground floor next to the Shower room/WC. The kitchen/lounge/dining room is on the 1st floor with access to 2 roof terraces.
All bedrooms have a wardrobe and chest of drawers. Bedroom 1 has 2 chairs ,bedrooms 2 and 3 have 1 each. All rooms except the bathroom have air conditioning which can be changed to warm air heating if the weather requires. As the bedrooms are stone walled and on the ground floor they are cool in summer months.
We have a housekeeper who comes in once a week to change linen etc. when guests are staying.

The property is suitable for adults and children aged 5 years and over as no cots are provided.
In view of the steps to the first floor it is considered unsuitable for elderly or infirm and wheelchair access is impossible Guests are asked to bring their own beach towels.
