The Crete region

Crete is the home of Minoan culture with a wonderful sunny, dry climate and magnificent views. Between April and October it is sunny and dry nearly always and in the winter although there are the odd wet days, there is sunshine nearly every day.
There are wonderful museums and Minoan sites all around Crete and miles of peaceful walks


Sitia / Maronia area

Sitia is away from the areas of mass tourism and is an elegant city which stays open all the year round as it does not depend on tourism for its wealth. There is a museum and a Folk museum displaying archiological items found nearby. There is an excellent bus service, which passes close to the house, enabling you to travel whereever you fancy

Cheap flight to Athens witth Easyjet - domestic flight to Sitia which is a 15 minute drive from the house
Or Olympic airways changing at Athens
Or Charter to Heraklion - car or bus on to Sitia
Or flight to Athens and ferry on to Sitia
