The Crete region
It is said that once you visit Crete, you will be drawn back again and again, such is the charm and allure of this legendary island.
Crete is the southernmost island of Europe and, with its 300 days of sunshine, is blessed with one of the healthiest climates in Europe. Stretching 260 km from east to west, it is the largest of the Greek islands and lies at the crossroads of three continents – Europe, Africa, and Asia.
Crete is a land of breathtaking scenery with gorgeous sandy beaches, fertile valleys and towering snow-peaked mountains. It is a lively mix of old traditions and modern living. Traditional villages with hard working people, a lot of them still using donkeys and mules out on the fields, and cosmopolitan towns full of cars, shopping centres and all kinds of entertainment.
While enjoying all the benefits of globalization, the Cretans still preserve strong bonds with their rich folk traditions and cultural heritage. From an archaeological point of view, Crete is absolutely irresistible, covered with impressive sites that stretch back to the dawn of western civilization.
Sitia is a charming seaside town a mere 3km away from the Agave Villas. Unlike many resorts that are crowded in summer and ghostly in winter, Sitia is lively and bustling all year round. It is a living town that happens to have tourism, rather than the other way around.
Sitia was built in the Venetian times, destroyed and later rebuilt by the Turks, with just a few signs of this history surviving until present times. Today, the long sandy beach of Sitia offers all the pleasures of sun, sand, sea, and windsurfing.
The area around Sitia is home to monasteries, notably Toplou, archaeological sites (the nearest just 100 meters from the Agave Villas), palm beaches, and fascinating trails across the mountains. Exploring Eastern Crete, also known as Lassithi, takes you on a journey through the magnificent countryside with its spectacular gorges, gentle valleys, incredibly beautiful hidden beaches and bays, and enchanting villages where time seems to have stopped a hundred years ago. Many traditional villages perched on steep mountain slopes are found only 15 minutes away by car.
•Beaches. A short 15-minute drive east takes you to a fabulous palm beach Vai. Eastern coast of Crete with its magnificent coastline, secluded beaches, and ancient ruins is within a 30-minute drive, as are the rugged rocky beaches of the Southern coast (Libyan Sea).
•Get blown away by the winds of Crete! Freak Surf, one of the best windsurfing centres in Europe, is only 15 minutes away by car, in a beautiful sandy bay with outstanding wind statistics.
•Local dining. Enjoy the excellent local cuisine and the memorable hospitality of the Greeks in the many family restaurants that you will find in every village as you explore Eastern Crete.
•A Cradle of Wine. Did you know that Crete and Wine are synonyms? A day trip to a unique winery can be arranged for you upon request.
•Boat trips & day cruises to nearby islands (Santorini, Kos, Karpathos).
•Fishing & fishing trips with local fishermen.
•Hiking &s nature trails.
•CretAquarium. The largest aquarium of the Mediterranean is where you discover the fascinating world of the deep sea.
•Car rental. To explore the island you would want to rent a car. Several agencies operate in the airport of Heraklion, and there are a few here in Sitia. A car can be reserved for you upon request.

"It is the perfect place to relax with friends or Sammy"
It is the perfect place to relax with friends or Sammy. Beautiful, well-appointed villa, with all the things necessary for life. Walking distance to the sea. Responsive and very hospitable owners of the villa. Thank you for a wonderful holiday!

"Could be better...."
The location of the villa is beautiful: nice view of Siteia bay, close to the sea as promised. Sitting on the terrace with a cup of coffee feeling the breeze - great. But the nice fotos and lovely des… More
I would like to respond to say that I truly regret that the waves and the wind made the holiday less pleasurable than it could be provided the weather was more calm. Usually it is possible to swim safely in front of the house for most of the spring-summer season; but the winds unfortunately are unpredictable.
I would like to respond to the comments about A/C only in bedrooms and the number of beds that it is exactly as per the house description.
It is stated in the description that the villa is rented out on self-catering basis, and the guests are responsible for cleaning. It is also stated in the payment terms that the final cleaning fee is payable upon departure.
Thank you for pointing out the insects issue - I will make sure the mosquito nets are replaced.

We booked this house for the end of our stay in Crete. The hostess was very friendly and accommodating when we arrived. We booked for three nights but only stayed for one. There were only linens for o… More
I object to the guests' reasons, and I have provided to the website customer support of the site through which the villa was booked the photos of the house taken right after the guests left as proof that the house has been prepared and cleaned well. Based on these photos, I was reimbursed for the guests' stay in full which is to demonstrate that the objective opinion of the third party was that the villa was clean and as described.
We may all have very different ideas and expectations, but we have been in the business for 5 years, and we never compromise the quality of our guests experience by not providing a clean house.
- The villa has been cleaned thoroughly prior to guests' arrival.
- The villa is located right on the seafront, there are salty breezes, and the stainless steel table legs do show moderate signs of rust. I do not consider this a reason for leaving and requesting a refund.
- Mosquitoes are to be expected, the house is located in the nature, the territory is not sprayed, AND we have the nets on all windows and terrace doors, AND there are plug-in fumigators in the closet in case the guests wish to use them.
- Prior to opening this season, the completely new sets of outside terrace furniture and the living room/dining room chairs have been purchased and placed in the villa.
- ALL the covers for the soft furniture are dry cleaned after EACH PARTY departs.
- It is summer season, and we provide standard sets of bed linen (a double bed for the 2 guests as per booking) that do not include the case (cover) for a duvee. The duvees are available if he guests need them, and I would have happily provided a cover had it been requested.
- In the past, I had guests requesting extra pillows, extra covers, extra furniture and even mattresses, and we have always responded with immediate solutions to our guests' requests. All the other reviews are evidence to this extra effort of ours to make our guests' stay as pleasant as possible.
- The washing machine is located in a separate maintenance room. It is clean.
- The guests never spoke to me prior to packing up and announcing that they are leaving. I offered to clean the house despite the fact that it was cleaned the night before, but they declined.
I strongly feel that the house has been in excellent condition. The WiFi is reset by just restarting the modem. It is a one minute deal if the guests came over and reported the problem. They chose to leave instead. All the issues could have been resolved if the guests have calmly requested additional things they needed and gave me 30 minutes to resolve all the issues, like extra cleaning and covers for duvees, and whatever else.

"Beautiful villa in stunning location"
My boyfriend and I stayed at the villa in mid October and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. The villa is reaLly spacious with beautiful views and a lovely stoney beach on your doorstep. We drove to some fantastic places nearby, including vai and xerocampos beaches, zakros gorge and of course sitia which had some great little tavernas. Anna was really welcoming and we would definately recommend the villa.
