The Costa Brava/Catalonia/Barcelona region
Excellent transport links: All the hustle and bustle of Barcelona is just a short half an hour away by train and the airport is conveniently located between the two. Barcelona International Airport has just opened a state of the art new terminal, which is host to more and more carriers from around the world. The all-important economy airlines are also here, with Easy Jet and Vueling having recently been joined by the Irish carrier, Ryan Air.Train connections are also very efficient with many of the main lines now electrified. An extensive French-style toll road network now extends to all parts of the country from Barcelona and easily north into Europe via France. But there's no getting away from the fact that the vast majority of Sitges's overseas residents are here to also enjoy the charms of the location and its peaceful society. Sitges is internationally renowned for the high quality of life that it offers its residents and regular visitors. For a start, it enjoys a sheltered microclimate and an average 300 days of sunshine per year. It is a strong bastion of arts and culture, both locally and from abroad and has been home to a succession of famous artists over the centuries. Sitges, as with most of Catalunya, is proud of its supportive and inclusive society and welcoming of the diversity that international visitors bring to its shores.
Just 35km to the south of Barcelona, lies the eclectic seaside town of Sitges. Renowned throughout the world for its beauty, its inclusive generosity, and its lazy beachside attitude to life, Sitges more than deserves its reputation as the St. Tropez of Spain. Its visitors, both long-term and short, come from many different countries. Sitges is particularly popular with Northern Europeans, and it actively welcomes its international residents. The Summer stretches over seven months, and even when that eventually draws to a close in early November, the low-season months are peppered with exciting festivals.
