The Costa Brava/Catalonia/Barcelona region

Costa Brava is a diverse region of extraordinary natural beauty and heritage (Dali, Romanesque, Roman Ruins). Despite Costa Brava has been considered a package holiday, fish and chips and sangria destination, this is an image based only on few towns of the Southern Costa Brava.

A traditional fishing port, Sant Feliu de Guixols has beautiful architecture and good restaurants. Its neighbour, S'Agaro was founded in the 1920s as a Modernist destination for the rich and famous. Platja d'Aro offers 3 kilometres of busy beach, bars and shops. Palafrugell has maintained its position at the hub of its three coastal offshoots: Calella de Palafrugell, Llafranc and Tamariu. Palamos is situated at the eastern end of the wide bay that bears its name. Begur is a stylish town with a profound historical personality.

Further North, the 4 kilometre beach of Pals, while inland the restored medieval village of Pals and Peratallada. The town of Roses was founded by the Greeks 3000 years ago and has thrown itself into tourism. In the old days the superstars of the avant garde - Picasso, Bunuel, Lorca - and their entourage came to visit Salvador Dalí's eccentric house in Cadaques. Capital of the Costa Brava is Girona, a walled city of Roman origin and located at a strategic point on the route between the Pyrenees and Barcelona.

Sitges

There's a certain magic in the air in Sitges. The whitewashed coastal town lies on the Costa Dorada, approximately 30km South of Barcelona. For decades Sitges has been a meeting place for people from all walks of life. A sophisticated getaway for young and old, gay and straight, families and friends. The town is full to bursting with classic art deco buildings and the seafront promenade is lined with palm trees. Its 17 beaches are some of the best on the Mediterranean coastline.

There is something for everybody in this dynamic beach town. Families can enjoy the safe beaches, ice cream parlours and close proximity to theme and water parks. Bon viveurs will love the French restaurants and the architecture in the old town. Party animals can make the most of the bars and clubs on 'The Street of Sin'. Couples will find romance in the cosy bars, rambling streets and blue seas. Artists will find inspiration from the bohemian atmosphere and the stunning light.

Sitges' microclimate means that it enjoys sunshine on average 300 days a year. It also plays host to major film, dance and culture festivals. There are reasons to come to Sitges all year round.
