About this location

The Catalunia region

Catalunya, is one of the most interesting and attractive regions of Spain. With a very strong culture and tradition, Catalunya, Barcelona and Sitges has the best of all worlds - Loads of sunshine during the year, particularly the Sitges area, with its microclimate of over 300 days of sunshine a year due to its strategic geographical location between the sea and the mountains of its beautiful Garraf Natural Park.

It also has amazing beaches all along the coast of Sitges and surroundings, wonderful countryside and stunning views, mountains and monasteries, amazing and completely unique architecture, music and art and cinema festivals for all tastes, wonderful wines and cavas and gastronic delights.

You have the mountains, the coast, ski in winter, watersports in summer, country sports all year around in the Natural Park, plenty of entertainment and nightlife and a very open minded culture in the area of Sitges which makes it possibly the best place in Spain to spend your holidays. What are you waiting for???

Sitges

About Sitges: Sitges is a Spanish town about 35 kilometres southwest of Barcelona, renowned worldwide for its Film Festival and Carnival among other fiestas and events. Between the hills and the sea, it is known for its much-frequented beaches, nightspots, and historical sites.

While the roots of Sitges' artsy reputation date back to the late 19th century, when Catalan painter Santiago Rusiñol took up residence there during the summer, the town in the 1960s became a centre for the counterculture on the mainland of Spain (then still under the dictatorship of Francisco Franco), and became known as a sort of 'Ibiza in miniature'.

Sitges has been referred to as the St. Tropez of Spain, the main reason for this being the setting by the sea and the surrounding Parc Natural del Garraf. Proximity to Barcelona International Airport is also a major advantage.

There are beautiful villas to rent which offer access to all of what Sitges has to offer. Villa Leila is one of the best in the area.

Things to do in Sitges: From museums, beaches, restaurants, quaint streets, great shopping, vibrant nightlife, great bars, cocktail & tapas, spas, watersports, mountain biking in the garraf, horse riding, a massage on the beach, art exhibitions, big brands and quirky boutiques - you name it, you've got it. It is all available in Sitges!! It's not what is there to do?? The real question is what do you want to do and how much time do you have...

"A dream come true---exceeded our expectations."

We stayed at Villa Ruth for two weeks and found it to be a dream come true. When you rent a home sight-unseen from an unknown broker, it can be a worry, but Villa Ruth and the ease of the transaction … More

"not quite as expected"

arrived at the property 2 hours behind schedule/check in, to find the cleaners STILL there, and still another hour before they left, partly due to our complaint about cleanliness. there is a huge amount of glass in the house, beautiful big windows and glass tables and they all looked liked they had been cleaned with milk! they were given another 'clean' and the cleaning lady was very apologetic and i felt quite bad for complaining but i still cleaned them myself when they had gone. also complained about the lack of gardening (grass above ankle, weeds mid-shin) and was given some story about an injured gardener and was promised gardeners the next day. (and they did come, just what you want when trying to enjoy your first morning of your holiday.) the cream cushions on the chairs of the outside dining set were literally black with mould (presumably from being left outside through the winter) and again with apology, they were taken away to be washed, but must have been deemed too bad to clean as we were presented with brand new cushions- at 10.15 at night!! the cushions of the outside seating area were even worse, a throw would have helped.... we didn't use this area at all because of this, and that's a real shame because it's a lovely seating area. we may have been the first arrival of the new season but all of these things were unacceptable, and not something you expect when paying nearly £3.5k a week. there was a real problem with ants in the basement swimming pool area and not for the first time, judging by the already faded areas on the decking (boiling water and ant powder i guess) the shower tray in the master bedroom en suite is so shallow that if you dare shower for more than a minute you will find yourself with a wet room......the xl bed shown in the downstairs bedroom is THE SAME bed used in the master bedroom picture! there is only one bed of this size in the house and the actual bed in the downstairs bedroom is definitely not the one shown and considerately smaller. there is also no projector or sound system in the lounge as shown in pics. indeed there was, all around the house if the amount of speaker cables hanging out of the wall is anything to go by, and i counted, i think, 13 speakers in the garden, alas also not working (maybe 'volume abuse' by previous guests has seen to this) the dvd player did not work and the only english speaking 'satellite tv' channel was bbc world news. the sofas are now different from the ones in the pics, and are oversized and cream coloured, and grubby looking. no kettle(quite normal) and we were not sure of the cleanliness of the hot water from the coffee machine, so we boiled water on the stove in a pan, and every time he did so, my poor husband (6ft+) smacked his head on the bizarrely placed extractor fan. no hot water for showers one day and Emilio was very quick in sending help, until we realised he actually called the swimming pool maintenance man - not great when six people are waiting to go for dinner....a mystery alarm going off in the basement for 2 days. not too loud, but loud enough to be annoying. and the 1st floor long bedroom with a single bed at either end (for your kids maybe??) has the most beautiful large sliding doors that open out onto.....nothing! no balcony, just a 12ft drop onto the patio below! really never seen anything like it! i spoke with Emilio before we left regarding the recentness/deceptiveness of the online photographs and i was agreed with, and assured that they would be updated, but 9 months on, the property is still being advertised on at least 3 sites with the same photgraphs as before, which i am extremely disappointed about. also builders next door (my fault for forgetting to ask) noise -(more talking and singing than work) started 8.30am, finished by 9.30am! really wasn't a problem at all.
HAVING SAID THAT....we had a fantastic time (didn't miss the tv, DID miss a kettle though...) the property IS stunning, the view is just breathtaking (as long as those trees don't grow anymore, which sadly, they will) the weather was fantastic for May, so we were really able to enjoy the garden and would definitely return, our only mis-giving being 'would it all just be two years tattier in two years time.'

Thank you for taking the time to review Villa Ruth. We take huge pride in Villa Ruth and so we were sorry that some of your experiences were less than your expectations. We do find your feedback a little dramatized and irrelevant in parts but nevertheless we have taken those points that we feel could help us with improve the future experience of our guests and have acted upon them.
Since your stay, we have had a professional photographer take photos of villa Ruth and all of the furniture & beds on view are 'as is' in the villa, the windows have been fitted with a new lock system.
We aim to address all our customers needs asap hence us returning with new cushions 10.15 the night of your arrival - we felt it was better to buy new and for you to have them immediately rather than have you wait for them to be cleaned. WE thought that this was rather a positive thing rather than a negative but perhaps we should have checked with you first. Our electrician also maintains the overall running of villa ruth including the pool which is why you saw Santiago addressing both issues in the villa.

"Lovely Villa in a quiet neighbourhood a stones throw from Sitges"

A well equipped and beautiful modern Villa with an excellent pool and nice views from the garden to the sea in the distance. We had a very relaxing stay with our adult party. In a quiet area a short drive to supermarket etc and on to Sitges. The gym was a bit disappointing but didn't matter as the weather was perfect. Booking straightforward & Emilio very helpful, would happily recommend.
