Home description
The apartment is a 5 minute walk from Lake Garda itself in the region of Lugana and 10 minutes from the larger town of Sirmione therefore you are just outside the main tourist area yet near enough to visit if you want to.
In the lake you can swim, wind surf, hire boats, get boat rides and hire pedalos.The area is beautiful and unspoilt and about 90% of all people there are Italian. It is where they go for the summer, so the area is not spoilt or prices loaded for tourists..
There are many fantastic restaurants either within walking distance or a short car drive away. There is also an organic ice cream factory ( situated on an old farm) 10 mins away where for 1.20€ you can have a fantastic ice-cream and even buy organic milk.
The area is all very suitable for families with children or adults who prefer a quiet relaxing holiday.

The Lombardy / Lake Garda Area
The whole area is full of traditional Italian restaurants, is steeped in history, yet is very modern in some areas. The surrounding countryside is beautiful, interesting and generally unspoilt. The are many historic places of interest to vist as well as some great tourist attractions. The mountains are beautiful and accessible for walking, cycling or driving. Lake Garda is large and is just "one huge playground" for boats and all watersports as well as a quite day fishing ( the lake is full of fish). The area is used by the Italians for their summer breaks.
Sirmione area
Sirmione is one of the most popular holiday resorts on the shores of Lake Garda in northern Italy. The small historic town is located on the tip of a long peninsula protruding from the southern shore of the lake between Desenzano del Garda and Peschiera. Sirmione has thermal springs and was a spa destination even in Roman times - you can visit some impressive Roman ruins at the end of the promontory. The town is in the province of Brescia, in the Lombardy region of Italy.
Sirmione is a pleasant place designed for relaxing stays, with sun beds for hire allaround the lake and it even has some beaches. The town itself offers short strolls, a couple of tourist attractions and lake views.
Although Sirmione itself is very attractive, its small historical heart gets very busy in the summer months. There are some very good restaurants in Sirmione itself there are also many which are of a tourist standard. Great to visit and experience but for better eating and value for money, eat outside the town itself.
The best way to visit the town is by bike which you have to leave outside the walled town itself. The whole area is bike and child friendly.
How to get there
The apartment is a 20 minute drive from either Verona airport or Verona Brescia (Montichiari) or Milan Bergamo which is a 45 minute drive. Ryanair fly into Verona Brescia and Milan Bergamo so you can often get a very cheap flight, Verona flights are from Gatwick and other major airports, British Airways, Thomson and other airlines. Sirmione (Lugana) where the apartment is situated, is just 5 minutes off the main Milan- Venice motorway (A4)

Further details indoors: The living area has a table and 6 chairs. The table extends to allow 8 people to sit round, using two chairs from the balcony. There is a sofabed which is comfortable and can seat 3/4 people or sleep two adults easily. The balcony has its own built in barbecue with seating for six people.
The home is like a second home for us so we have not skimped on the decor or facilities.
Further details outdoors: The fabulous pool is safe and well maintained. It has a great resident lifeguard who interacts well with the guests and children. It has a children's pool as well as a jacuzzi.
The apartment is within a secure gated complex and the pool area is surrounded by grass.
There is an old Roman spa in Sirmione and another near Pescheira.
The mountains are less than an hour away and you can get a cable to the top for breathtaking views of the lake and surrounding countryside. The walking is also great as is driving around the lake (it is the largest in Italy) to the many picturesque ports and towns. There is also an excellent ferry service which runs boats between the major towns every day.
For the kids there is Gardaland, the Italian equivalent of Disneyland, and every bit as good. There are other theme parks (Movie land), a large Zoo and an adventure park all close. There is also a large water park within a 5 minute drive or bike ride of the apartment or an even larger one 30 minutes drive away. For the ladies there are factory outlets, boutiques, local markets as well as many massive Hyper-stores within a short drive from the apartment..
The apartment has 3 bedrooms which can sleep 6 comfortably plus a sofa bed. The master bedroom has a Superking sized bed, the other two rooms have single beds. One of the bedrooms is a tower/studio which is ideal for the older children which has panoramic views and is great fun. This is accessed by an electric stairway within the apartment. There is 1 fully tiled bathroom with a walk in shower, bidet and a washing machine
We have cable TV (with DVD player built in), dishwasher, barbecue, microwave and fridge-freezer. We have an underground double garage plus overground parking in a secure site. We have 6 bicycles for use plus an fantastic exclusive pool which has it's own permanent lifeguard making it very safe for children, allowing the parents to relax.
The complex is gated and private and very quite.
The climate is fantastic with temperatures into the nineties, the breeze from the Lake is often very refreshing.
Sirmione has a marina where there are many very impressive boats to see including Michael Schumakers ( he has a house there).
The apartment is on the 2nd floor (top) and from here you can see the pool and the mountains. There is a lift just outside the front door which goes down to the garage so offloading shopping and suitcases is quick and easy. The lift serves only one other family on the same floor so it is hardly ever used, like having a private lift.
There is an agent situated most days just outside the complex who speaks excellent English should there be an emergency. Some of the other residents speak English as well.
We suggest you bring a SatNav as there are many places we have found (details in the "things to do" folder)which are nearby, such as restaurants etc .
Almost from June - September the weather is fantastic but it is also pleasant all year round. Being surrounded by the mountains creates its own micro climate and you can often sit on the balcony and watch fantastic storms away in the mountains.
