Home description

L'Escale's studio apartment couldn't be any nearer to the River Dordogne without actually being afloat. Situated on the riverbank next to a beautiful sandstone bridge on the outskirts of the charming village of Siorac-en-Périgord, in the historical and breathtaking Périgord Noir area of the Dordogne.

An ideal location for couples on their own or with a baby, who want to have the best of both worlds - peace and quiet but just a 2 minute walk to the supermarket. With access to the riverbank only a hop and a skip away, canoes can be hired for a romantic expedition downriver. Remember to bring your swimming things as the river is a popular bathing spot in the summer months.

The Aquitaine / Dordogne / Dordogne region

It's easy to see why this area has been called the valley of a thousand and one chateaux as towers, turrets and pigeoniers can be viewed at almost every turn. Along with the medieval villages, stunning scenery and great food and wine it is understandable why the Périgord Noir is one of the most visited areas of France. So we are going to let you in on a secret.......May, June and September!! The weather is generally beautiful, the prices are significantly lower and there are noticeably fewer people. Walk, drive and sightsee all of the wonderful attractions in peace and calm, the way a holiday should be. It is such a fabulous area with so many great things to do and see we would like you to see it at its best - but don't tell everyone!

Siorac-en-Perigord area

Situated on the main route from Bergerac (45 mins) to Sarlat (25 mins) L'Escale's studio is 5 minutes walk away from the charming village centre of Siorac-en-Périgord with its sleepy railway station, church, post office and tourist information. The handful of shops will be able to help you with all you need from a hand crafted souvenir to your all important morning croissants and pastries. There are 2 restaurants within walking distance and many more than I can mention here within a short drive.

As well as the fishing at the end of the garden there is a 9 hole compact golf course within a 15 minute walk and also a par 72 (5,893m) 18 hole course 10 mins drive away. Tennis courts are just 2 minutes walk and bikes, ponies, even hot air balloons can all be hired locally. Families can also rest assured that their children will be kept entertained with prehistory, air and waterparks all within a short drive. There are gardens, caves and castles as rich and diverse as the people who come to see them. We have a huge amount of leaflets and information to help you plan your days and are always at hand to help and advise. Our aim is to be as hospitable as possible and make your stay with us as pleasantly memorable as it can be.
