The Aquitaine / Dordogne / Dordogne region
This is an area of gentle wooded hills, scattered with walnut groves, orchards and small farms, many which you can visit to buy foie gras and duck breasts or strawberries. There are endless quiet country lanes, ideal for cycling that take you off the beaten track through hidden valleys and hamlets. The wildlife is rich and varied, red squirrels, nightingales. golden orioles and hoopoes, sometimes a glimps of deer and on warm summer evenings, the song of the crickets.
The Dordogne region caters for all tastes, the sportsman and the energetic with two golf courses nearby and the Dordogne river only a few minutes away. You can go horse riding or drive a quad , rent a mountain bike or go fishing in the river. A boat trip or canoe trip on the Dordogne river is an absolute must.
Places to see , things to do, these are endless. For example, if you stay a week you can visit another chateau every day. Places of interest Domme , medieval Bastide with a spectacular view. Les Eyzies, grottoes of Font de Gaume. Lascaux , cave paintings. Les Milandes , chateau of Josephine Baker. Rocamadour , place of pilgrimage with eagle sanctuary. Roche of St.Christophe , cave dwellings or Sarlat with its maze of medieval streets. There are very interesting grottoes to visit, such as the gouffre de Padirac or the gouffre de Proumeyssac, And still a mass of little villages for you to discover. If you like shopping, flea-markets of jazz concerts, canoeing or just wandering around a lovely riverside town, then you love Bergerac, The jazz concerts in summer every Wednesday are free. The shops are small but exquisite, the restaurants in the old quarter, -some of which have art exhibitions- are offering goo menus with a choice of local dishes at very reasonable prices.
Siorac-en-Perigord area
Siorac is small village on the Dordogne river with a popular weekly market and some small shops , restaurants and cafes, it even has its own chateau. During summer there are antique markets and broquantes, you simply have to visit a nocturne market, you can buy and have your meal there and enjoy the summer evening. The local tourist office is situated in the centre of Siorac-en-Perigord and can give you all the information you need about the places to visit and things to do, including lots of activities for the children. You will find out that a week is not be sufficient to discover the Dordogne region.

Further details indoors: An entrace hall with a downstairs wc. leads into a large living room with a huge log fire,comfortably furnished, style "chateau". The luxery kitchen is fully equipped and includes a dishwasher. The dining area opens onto a terrace with tables and parasols, ideal for breakfast , lunch and dinner. Two bedrooms and one bathroom are downstairs, even as a utility room with washing machine and dryer and an extra fridge freezer. On the first floor there are two large bedrooms with ensuite bathrooms and a separate toilet. Three bedrooms have twin beds, which can be made into double beds if preferred. The other bedroom has a double bed. All beds, matresses and linen recently bought.

Bed linen and towels are provided. Prices are inclusive of an normal end cleaning. A deposit on our bank account of 50% is requested on booking, with the remainder paid 8 weeks before arrival. The refundable security deposit is 300 cash upon arrival. We cannot accept credit card or cheque payments.
