About the home

Faramilo" is set in a village "Eugaria", is a small village, with wonderful walks and plentiful springs of water.
Is adjacent to the property's main house, with separate gate, entrance and a terrace, all with total privacy.
The cottage is a studio, has no doors from bedroom to living room, has an open fire and we supply wood.
The living room has a sofa bed for an extra person.
The bedroom has patio doors to the terrace. All windows have mosquito nets.
The property is very private and set in quite surroundings, very green and lush. All with panoramic views.

The Costa de Lisboa/Lisbon region

Sintra is a lovely little town. It is situated in the hills and there is a beautiful castle on the top of one of these hills that give you a grand view of the area. Sintra is known for its quaint little buildings.
If you like ruins and palaces, you really have to go to Sintra!! It's also a nice place to sit on a terrace and enjoy the sun, the magnificent views!

Owing to a Mediterranean type micro climate, our area has mild winters and an ideal summer temperature which never gets too hot. In the autumn is like a second spring.

Nearest town is Colares (1.5km), has all the necessary conveniences and transports to other towns, beaches.
Some of Sintra palaces are on the same road as “Faramilo”. A distance of 3/5km.
The palaces of Seteais and Monserrate, Quinta da Regaleira is particularly special and has UNESCO world heritage status as testimony to this fact. Situated amongst dense woodland, its eerie turrets and nooks and crannies lend it an air of mystique added to by underground grottoes and two dry wells, all this together with its lush gardens make it a unique place to visit.
Less well-equipped beaches, litter this area each offering its own beauty and charm – such sandy coves include Azenhas do Mar, Praia do Magoito and Adraga.
Also along this stretch of coast lies the windswept headland of Cabo da Roca, the most westerly point in mainland Europe. ‘where the land ends and the sea begins’.

The Sintra / Colares area

Pena National Palace is the oldest palace of the European Romanticism period. It is a UNESCO World Heritage site and considered one of the seven wonders of Portugal. The palace was first built in the middle ages and started out as a small quiet place for meditation.

Within the complex is also Pena Park - a large forested area covering 200 hectares. Diverse trees from around the globe. Sintra is near the coast and many beautiful beaches lie only a short drive away, or indeed a tram ride away, as an old-fashioned electric tram service ferries people from Sintra to various villages and the charming Praia das Maças all year round. Praia Grande is a popular beach with the young surfers come to ride its quality waves, and both national and international competitions are held.

Offers a spectacular scenery with Cabo da Roca (most western point of Continental Europe on a 140 m high cliff) and big sandy beaches (magnificent Praia da Adraga 8 min. drive, Guincho with dunes 10 min. drive, Praia Grande 10 min drive, Praia das Macas 15 min. drive) partly stretching out below cliffs.

A programme can be arranged for horse riding, driven to a stables that specializes in both dressage and show jumping from novice to advanced.

The dressage training is with Francisco Bessa de Carvalho, senior rider with Portuguese school of Equestrian Art, judge and International trainer. By arrangement.

Show jumping with Nuno Veloso, ex Portuguese National Champion. Also by arrangement.
Lusitano horse fair happens in Golegã from 5 November.
