The Costa de Lisboa/Lisbon region
Lisbon, Portugal’s bright capital, spreads along the north bank of the River Tagus, which meets the ocean here. Just outside the city are the seaside resort of Estoril and the romantic hills of the Serra de Sintra, where the perfect bond between palaces and nature led to the area being classified as a world heritage site. It is the sea, the climate and the stunning nature that give this region its peculiar energy. Its many parks and nature reserves encourage visitors to spend time in the open air, enjoying the peace and quiet of a round of golf or the adrenaline buzz of surfing.
Sintra area
Set on the southern slopes of the Sintra hills near the charming village of -Sao Pedro da Sintra. The historic attractions of Sintra and the surrounding area are all within easy reach as are several golf courses such as Penha Longe and Oitavos, the magnificent grounds of the Penha Palace, some of the world's great cliff top walks, typical fishing villages to the North and the many attractions of Lisbon and Cascaisare less than20 minutes drive away. The Portuguese spend more of their disposable income on eating out than any other European nation, so there is no shortage of excellent restaurants specialising in local fare especially fresh fish and seafood. For the night owls, Lisbon provides clubs and bars to suit all tastes open until the not so wee hours whilst the largest Casino is in nearby Estoril for those who like a little flutter. Yachting can be arranged on a Dufour 44 sport with experienced crew - a great way to see the coastline.

Guestbook for Quinta do Alto
Despite the bad weather conditions, our stay in this villa will remain a great moment of our tour of Portugal. The cottage is extremely comfortable, nicely decorated with all the accommodations (wash-machine, dishwasher, full-equipped kitchen, flat-screen tv, etc.). The garden (with a big swimming pool and pool house, jacuzzi, sauna and a bio kitchen garden) is just splendid! But the most appreciable facet of the Quinta is the kindness of its owner, Carolina. A great moment! - Nicolas from Belgium
All I can say is that our one week holdiay in Quinta do Alto was too short. The friendly welcome in the beautiful gardens, the scent of eucalyptus and the comfortable cottage were perfect for us. The house was spacious, very clean and the daily maid service is a great luxury. We really did have a lovely time both on the grounds of the Quinta and exploring the nearby sites. Thank you again for the wonderful week we had, hopefully we'll be back sometime next year! - Femke
Arriving at Quinta do Alto was like visiting old friends and the warm welcome remained throughout our entire stay. - Elmer & Anna, Amsterdam
We had a great time in Sintra and our stay at Quinta Do Alto was the icing on the cake. We were hugely impressed and it was ideal for exploring Sintra and surrounding area. Thanks for the nice welcome and we found both yourself and Carolina very friendly and approachable. I will strongly recommend it to friends and family for future trips and we would not hesitate to return ourselves. - Gerard, Ireland
