The first thing you will notice, at a level above the parking area, is the large stone building, framed by the green of the trees. Climbing a stone stairway of approximately ten steps you will find yourself in a large flat area, in the middle of which there is the villa, surrounded by a large lawn. Among the grass, here and there, you will see large terracotta jars filled with flowers.
Everything is beautiful, well-kept and well ordered: you will fall in love with this place at first glance and will be happy you chose it for your vacation.
Beyond the lawn there is the side of the hill, along which you will find marked trails that invite you to stroll in the woods.

From every point of the premises you will only see the blue of the sky and the green of the surrounding hills, and no other building.

The Tuscany region
Located in the heart of Italy, Tuscany is surely one of the most famous Italian landscapes. The essence of this beautiful region are its natural, artistic, and cultural heritage.
Bounded by the Ligurian and the Tyrrhenian Sea (two arms of Mediterranean), this region is divided into ten provinces, whose capitals are Arezzo, Florence, Grosseto, Livorno, Lucca, Massa-Carrara, Pisa, Pistoia, Prato and Siena. Florence is the capital city of the region itself.
The region was populated first by the Etruscans on the 7th century BC, and about 500 years later by the Romans.
The words Humanism and Renaissance evoke Tuscany, as immediately as Pope evokes Rome: just think that between the fourteenth and the sixteenth century, both these ages were born here. The entire region attained a very important artistic role.
If you are keen on art and nature… well you’re definitely in the right place! ;-)
Indeed the fathers of Italian painting, architecture and sculpture lived in this beautiful towns: such as Cimabue, Giotto, Brunelleschi, Donatello, Botticelli, Leonardo Da Vinci and Michelangelo. This is the reason why the entire region is rich in museums where thousands of amazing works are kept. You’ll be impressed by the majesty of the many ancient palaces (for examples “Palazzo Vecchio”, “Palazzo Pitti”, “Palazzo Medici”), monasteries and villas that are springing up all over the Tuscany.
Spring and fall are the best times to visit Tuscany, because the climate is mild. Bus-lines and trains connect the larger towns, but having a car would be a great advantage, and you would be easily able to enjoy the small towns and vineyards, which represent some of Tuscany’s strong points.
The “Chiantigiana road” is a must to see: it produces some of Italy’s finest wines. This is the colourful and legendary road of the “Chianti" region. The grape cultivation dates back to the Etruscan times. One of the biggest pleasures will be sipping different wines, at the wineries or at the wine bars scattered in the towns.
What about a drop in on “Mugello”? It is a countryside surrounded by oaks, chestnut trees and by the Apennines, This land of artists and painters have been source of inspiration in its farmhouses and colours. with kind people, authentic cooking, good wine, plus a great tradition in handicrafts.
The Apuan Alps are a monumental work of the nature. They consist in some of the highest peaks in the region: This regional park sets up the chance for those who want to practice trekking, cycling, horse riding or simply walking to enjoy this beautiful landscape.
Versilia is an area of 20 km sandy beaches located in the north of the region. The seaside with the colourful bathing areas is rich in bars and meeting places. Camaiore, Forte dei Marmi, Massarosa, Pietrasanta, Seravezza, Stazzema and Viareggio are the towns of this beautiful coast.
Another great attraction of this region is the archipelago. The largest island is Elba: more than one hundred kilometers of coast.
Curiously enough, since the Etruscans introduced the use of fresh herbs, the Tuscan cooking is still based on vegetable dishes, bread-based soups, meats perfumed with sage, rosemary, and thyme. Moreover the secret of its success is the good care and the devotion to guarantee the quality of the products of the land... crostini of chicken liver, soups, tortelli with Bolognese sauce, “pappardelle” with hare sauce or with boar sauce, boar hunter style, fillet of beef, salted cod with tomato sauce, ricciarelli, cantucci, Tuscan salt-less bread… We’re sure your mouth is already watering!
A holiday in Tuscany is an experience that will bring you back happy memories for the rest of your life.
The house is in the heart of Tuscany, close to the medieval burg of Rigomagno, near Sinalunga, just south of Chianti.
Rigomagno, immersed into the olive trees on top of the sweet hills of Sinalunga, is so charming that once you know it, you do literally fall in love with it. A must for the ones who want to know the real Tuscany, from the cuisine to the warm culture of greeting.
This lovely place has strange origins, related to a clamorous, gross injustice of the State: the story is dated back to the second half of 1200s, when the Republic of Siena was involved – like almost all the other European countries - into the disputes between Guelphs and Ghibellines, for the government of the state. In 1281 the Guelphs were in power and the noble Ghibellines exiled with some local squires into their houses.
During summer, Buonsignori, leader of Ghibellines in Siena, helped by a maniple of soldiers, threw Siena into confusion, involving also the village of Rigomagno. This lasted for a few hours... there was a brief but bloody battle, where Bonsignori raised a siege against the castle of Rigomagno. Six days later, Siena's army captured and beheaded all the rebels, and took back the precious castle of Rigomagno, situated on the borderline.
For some unknown reasons (maybe some incomprehensions between the inhabitants of Rigomagno and the local army, maybe a mistake in transcription made by the commander...) the fact remains that the Senate of Siena considered the population of Rigomagno as traitor, and ordered the destruction of the castle, its walls and every single house around it.
The village was rebuilt in 1291, thanks to the inhabitants of Rigomagno that bravely tried to convince the Senate of their innocence. The village now is exactly as it was 717 years ago.
From the real passion of its 100 inhabitants, twenty years ago started in Rigomagno an unmissable event, called "Il Colle degli Ulivi": Jazz festival that hosts the best field performers. This event is also a magnificent range of exhibitions of art along the streets and inside private houses, kindly offered by the locals, and one of the best wine and food festivals in Tuscany.
"Il Colle degli Ulivi" is a “true” party, that evolved itself throughout the ages, and now drums up thousands of people and VIPs.
This evolution has never changed the familiar and genuine atmosphere that has always characterized this event, giving a unique taste of history and tradition. At “Colle degli Ulivi” you can really experience a bit of the famous Italian life style, the one that is well known all over the world for the perfect balance between nature and art, culture and music, food and wellness.
You cannot miss the big happening which take place on the 24th of June, with chefs gathering from all over Italy, more than happy to show their special and tasty dishes and meals; bringing yourself into an amazing journey starting from the local food and wine to a number of new experiences that you will not forget so easily.
You won't complain for sure and you'll be ready for more and more of this!
You will be able to take day trips to the most important tourist and cultural spots of Tuscany: Siena (40 km, 25 miles), Pienza (30 km, 18 miles), Cortona (30 km, 18 miles), Arezzo (38 km, 24 miles), Montalcino (35 km, 21 miles), San Gimignano (85 km, 53 miles), Florence (110 km, 68 miles).
