Beautifully furnished 4 bedroom, 2 bathroom cottage with pool in the little hamlet of Glencairn Heights with beautiful views across the False Bay peninsula. 5 minutes walk from Glencairn Beach. Capel Cottage comprises a large lounge leading to an adjacent open plan dining area with seating for eight and a separate fully equipped kitchen. The pretty gardens surround the house with the pool at the front and the barbecue at the back. There are also sun loungers and patio furniture. From the deck you can see whales at the right time of year - a stunning sight.

The Western Cape region
Cape Town nestles snugly in the natural amphitheatre between the immensity of Table Mountain and the blue waters of Table Bay. The amazing natural beauty and the modern, cosmopolitan feel of this city have ensured that Cape Town is fast becoming one of the Southern hemisphere's premier tourist destinations.
Unquestionably one of the world's most famous landmarks, Table Mountain provides Cape Town with a uniquely beautiful setting and is considered one of the most awesome natural wonders of the world. The Mountain with its famous white tablecloth of cloud has a level but rocky summit and provides breathtaking views of the city and Peninsula below.
Our accommodation is on the Eastern side of the Cape, in False Bay. We chose this location as the beaches on False Bay are beautiful golden sand and the water is often 5C, or more, warmer than on the Atlantic side and can reach 20C in summer. This makes swimming far more pleasant.
Between July and December, False Bay is a favoured haunt for whales and their calves and they often come very close to the shore. The Spring months of August and September bring a blanket of beautiful flowers across the region.
Other attractions on this side include: the Boulders Beach penguin colony, a must-see for anyone visiting Cape Town; Cape Point, the most Southwesterly point of Africa, and the Cape of Good Hope Nature Reserve, which offers truly awesome scenery, some fantastic walks and deserted beaches, plus the chance to spot rare wildlife, as well as the famous baboons; the shops, restaurants and harbour of Simons Town; the beaches of Muizenburg and Fish Hoek; and many fantastic restaurants including the renowned Brass Bell, at Kalk Bay.
The city is only 45 minutes drive away, where other must see attractions include the shops, aquarium and boat trips to Robben Island at the Victoria and Alfred Waterfront, and Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens.
There is also a train service from the city centre through to Simon's Town. It hugs the coast from Muizenberg to Simon's Town, offering spectacular views across the bay and to the Hottentots-Holland mountain range, stopping at St James, Kalk Bay, Fish Hoek and Glencairn on the way.
The beginning of the wine route of Paarl, Stellenbosch and Franschhoek is about an hours drive from our accommodation in False Bay. Also within easy driving range are the towns and beaches on the western side including Kommetjie, Noordhoek, Hout Bay and its World of Birds, and cosmopolitan Camps Bay.
There are numerous golf courses nearby and other available activities include windsurfing, paragliding, climbing, cycling, walking, fishing, surfing, sailing and boating, riding and base jumping, as well as excellent spectator sports including rugby, cricket and football.
Our accommodation provides the perfect home away from home. It is conveniently located to visit all the must see attractions of the Cape South Peninsula and as a base or starting point for trips along the garden route.
Simonstown / Glencairn area
Located on the eastern seaboard where the sea is much warmer, you are only minutes away by car from Simons Town,the Boulders Beach penguin colony, the sea-side towns of Fish Hoek and Kalk Bay with their fabulous restaurants and Muizenberg famed for its long broad white sands, surfing and fishing. The city of Cape Town is only about 40 minutes by car, as are the busy cosmopolitan resorts of Camps Bay and Hout Bay. The beautiful wine lands of Paarl, Stellenbosch and Franschhoek are also within easy reach by car or organised tour.
Glencairn beach is about a 10 minute walk and is lovely golden sand. The Scratch Patch nearby is a wonderful place to sort and collect beautiful stones from around the wiorld. Simonstown is a short drive and has some excellent restaurants and shops.
There are 3 restaurants within walking distance of Capel Cottage and all very good. The Southern Right Hotel just the otherside ot the wetlands area and a 10 minute walk has a superb restaurant with an excellent children's area with jungle gym, playstations, TV and bean bags, so you can enjoy your meal as adults whilst the kids are entertained.
The village of Glencairn has a small parade of shops including a supermarket, petrol station and pizza restaurant. This is under 5 miniutes walk from the cottage. Another excellent restaurant - Dixies - is a 10 minute walk away.
In a car there is an excellent choice of restaurants to drive to in nearby Simonstown, Fish Hoek, Kalk Bay and NordHoek. There is a train from Glencairn along the coast and in to Cape Town and you can sometimes book Biggsy's restaurant carriage for a champagne breakfast.
How to get there
From the UK there are direct flights with British Airways, SouthAfrican Airways and Virgin from Heathrow or Gatwick. You can fly from most regional airports with one European stopover with KLM, Lufthansa and other European airlines. The flight time is about 12 hours and there is only a one or two hour time difference - so no jet lag! We can recommend a local car hire company and we can arrange a chauffeur drive from the airport with the hire car delivered to the property at very reasonable rates.

Further details indoors: The single story property has been completely re-furnished throughout and comprises a large lounge with jet master fire, comfortable sofas, colour television with satellite TV, DVD player and CD player. This leads to an adjacent open plan dining area with seating for eight and a fully equipped open plan kitchen comprising fridge/freezer, washing machine, dishwasher, tumble drier, microwave, plus a full complement of cutlery, crockery, glasses etc.
There are four double size bedrooms mostly with built in wardrobes including the master bedroom which has a queen size double bed and en-suite shower room. The second bedroom also has a queen size double bed. The third bedroom has twin beds and the fourth has full size bunk beds. There is also a separate large bathroom with shower as well as bath.
The cottage is professionally managed on our behalf by our resident family representative, who will be on hand to meet you and to supervise the cleaning of the property and the regular change of towels and linen. They are only a 20 minute drive away and are contactable by 'phone. A number of other complementary services will also be available: A welcome food pack including wine and fruit, tea towels, 'J' cloths, washing up liquid, etc. Bedding - sprung mattresses, duvets, 2 pillows per person Provision of all towels including beach towels Barbecue charcoal and firelighters Telephone for incoming and local outgoing calls
Further details outdoors: The pretty gardens surround the house with the pool at the front and the barbecue and picnic bench at the back. There are also sun loungers and patio furniture and an outside drying space for washing. From the deck you can see whales and dolphins in the bay at the right time of year and it's perfect for catching the afternoon and evening sunshine.
There is a double garage with electric door and a security gate at the bottom of the drive. The house also has a burglar alarm and security system. It is suitable for children of all ages and the pool does have a safety net.. We can provide a cot and high chair for no extra charge

Hi Kate, we'll we are back!! Had a fantastic time. The cottage was just perfect, everything you could want in a holiday home. The beach towels were an added bonus....such a pain lugging that sort of stuff out there. Marion could not have been nicer and was a real help with babysitting and doctors sugery details (nothing major!!!!) We finally managed to get the Southern Right Hotel to admit thay had a bouncey castle.....took us 3 attempts! Really, it was a great holiday and we are hoping to return in the not too distant future!!!!
