Simons Town is steeped deeply in South Africa's Naval history. It has quaint lanes, renowned Victorian architecture and the world famous penguin sanctuary at Boulders Beach, which is within walking distance, as is the Simons Town waterfront and the interesting selection of shops and restaurants. Make your way to the harbour and book yourself onto a whalespotting or seal tour. Summer to autumn (December to May) is when the weather is warmest and you will find yourself yearning for a swim in the warm waters of the Indian Ocean or the cool, refreshing waters of the Atlantic. Outdoor lovers are also well catered for in with the wide choice of hiking trails, surfing and cycling, and scuba dives on offer.
