About the home

CASA VERDE – This is a recently constructed lodge overlooking the beautiful Odelouca River and valley. It is located on a hill top in the village of Odelouca which is just ten minutes away from the ancient historic town of Silves. The lodge comprises two bedrooms (one double and one twin bedded). There is a W.C. Shower room; lounge with seating for four adults, satellite T.V.; a dining area with seating for four and a fully equipped kitchen. Outside there is a decked area with table and seating for six people. The lodge has its own garden area leading to a small private swimming pool – ideal for cooling off on those long hot summer days. The pool overlooks one of the most picturesque valleys in the Algarve. The river always has water as it is tidal at this point. A welcome pack of drinks and a few essentials will be provided.

Booking conditions:

A non refundable deposit of 25% of the rental (see below for tariff) is payable upon confirmation of booking. Telephone bookings will be held for four days until written confirmation is received together with the deposit. The balance of the deposit is payable 6 weeks prior to departure. Payment in full is requested for bookings made less than eight weeks prior to departure.

On the day of departure you are requested to vacate the property by 10 am.

The Algarve / Central Algarve region

The Algarve is known for its year round sunshine. As an area it is of interest both for its beautiful beaches, of which there are many, and for its country side with its associated wildlife. The entertainment provided by the beaches and the resorts rival that of any other holiday in the sun location. However, the lesser known country side should not be ignored. This is particularly true if you enjoy walking, bird watching and other outdoor pursuits such as pony trekking. Artists/painters will also find much to inspire them both on the coast and in the interior.

The Silves / Odelouca area

This area is ideally located as a starting point for much that the Algarve has to offer. Silves, itself is a small town of considerable historical interest. It has a hill top castle built by the Moors at a time when Silves was the capital city for the region. However its history is even older with connections to the Roman occupation and even earlier times when the Phoenicians visited on route to north western Europe. Short drives away are the beaches and giant Water Parks, including Zoo Marine which has dolphin displays as well as rides and other attractions. Silves is also ideal starting point for trips into the mountains. Monchique is only some twenty five minutes away and a little further along one reaches the highest point on the Algarve – Foia. From here the views are to the coasts on both the south and west. Along the route to Monchique there are many small restaurants many of which serve the famous Chicken Pir-Piri. Also within easy driving distance from Silves are many golf courses including Palmares (20 minutes) and Penina (10 minutes).

Fly to Faro. Car hire can be arranged for pickup (and subsequent drop off) at the airport. Many people have successfully arranged this through the Internet. There are many companies that provide car hire. From the airport follow the signs for the A22 to Portimao for about 4 kms. Turn right at the sign for A22 Lisboa, Portimao, Loule. Follow on round onto the IC4. Continue on this road for about 5 Kms until the road diverges. Get into the left hand lane for Lisboa, IP1, Portimao, Loule, A22. (should you miss this opportunity you will end up on the N125 which will still take you towards Silves – It is merely a slower road than the A22 motorway). Continue past the football stadium on the right until Junction 4 A22 Lisboa, Portimao, Albufeira. This turning is immediately after the turning for Spain (A22 Espanha, Olhoa – please do not take this turning). Once on the A22 continue until the turning for Silves. Take this turning and continue into Silves. When you enter the town crossing over a bridge you will be faced with traffic lights. Turn left here and continue with the river on your left and the town on your right. Continue driving, crossing over two roundabouts before leaving Silves. Drive through the village of Falacho and continue past Mira Rio Restaurant (on your left) where there is a small bridge and the road takes a sharp left turn. There is then a long straight stretch followed by a shorter straight stretch and a left hand turn in the road. About two hundred metres after this turn is the turn off to the right for CASA VERDE. You will now be on a private track which leads up to the lodge and its spectacular views.

“Great position,great value, our perfect family holiday spot” This was our second stay at Casa Verde, and we were nervous about returning as we had such a great stay the first time we wondered if it would meet up to our memories. We should not have worried it was just as good as last time. We love the location, great views peace and quiet but near enough to any of the beaches and waterparks. It is also very close to Silves a lovely unspoilt town with a superb castle to visit and some great inexpensive restaurants. we have two kids of 9 and 12 and the youngest cried as he didn't want to leave. The pool was ideal for the 4 of us and the garden area (astroturfed) is great for games, the kids love the climbing frame etc. But for us the best bit is breakfast outside or dinner in the evening just soaking up the view watching the storks circling. Peter and Jackie are the perfect hosts, the fridge and kitchen has a great welcome pack, beer and wine included and the fact they are at the bottom of the hill is great should you need anything, although if you don't you would never know they were there. The linen and towels changes they provide are great. What more can I say ,well we have travelled all over the world and for me this is our number one favourite spot for a family holiday
