Further details

The Villa is situated in a countryside location so a car is essential for travelling to the local towns for provisions and also to the beaches and amenities on the Algarve coast but its only 20 mins away. It is calm and tranquil and away from the more well populated holiday areas but well positioned to be in any location within 20 mins. the magnificent Funcho Dam is very close for bird watching and walking, "Aqualand" nearby in Guia and "Slide and Splash" in Lagoa for family entertainment.

Many local excellent restaurants, bars and cafes located very close by.

The Algarve region

The Algarve is the most southerly tip of Portugal, Portugal being the most sunniest spot in Europe, the currency is the Euro. Average temperatures range from 16'C in December to 28'C in July and August, it boasts year round sunshine and minimal rainfall.

We are situated in a small hamlet, and have fantastic panoramic views south, we are just a few hundred yards off the N124. This charming area of small villages and hamlets, the houses are whitewashed with coloured doors and windows and ornate chimneys. The orange, lemon, almond, figs and carob trees all blend into the sweeping hillsides. The area is home to approx 80 species of nesting birds so ideal for birdwatching, rambling and nature lovers. Ideal central location for anyone wanting to have a longer stay, if viewing villas with a view to purchase and relocate on a permanent basis to the Algarve. Special rates available for these longer term rentals.

Silves

The local town of Silves the former capital of Portugal is just 15 mins away by car. This town boasts a Castle and Gothic Cathedral well worth a visit. It has a fruit and veg market every day selling fresh local produce. cafes, bars and restaurants are in abundance and at a much more reaonable price than down on the coast. Supermarkets Modelo and Lidl. Chemists shops etc etc.

St Bartholomew de Messines is just 5 minutes from the villa by car. Situated in a long fertile valley the town retains its charm. The main church built originally in 16 Century and added to in the 18th Centure is well worth a visit. Daily markets selling fresh local produce and a traditional barber shop for the gents haircut and shave! Plenty of bars, cafes and restaurants again at much more reasonable prices than fown on the coast. . Supermarket Intermarche, chemists and butchers to list but a few.

Tthe mountain town of Monchique is well worth a visit to take in the stunning views south to the coast, also the market on the 2nd Friday in the month. Cafes, bars and tourist shops selling fantastic locally made knitwear.

Stunning beaches just 20 mins drive and water parks at Guia and a variety of shopping malls just 15 mins drive. Vilamoura Marina well worth a look and just minutes away.

Algarve Motor Park is only a few miles drive from our villa.

"Another lovely stay at Vivenda Susana"

Just a short note to say how much we enjpyed the holiday and especially the villa which we all agreed was the most homely we have stayed in and the location was a great success for access to all areas. Hopefully we can come back another year. thankyou once again.
