This part of the Languedoc has a sunny Mediterranean climate. It can be hot in summer, but the temperature is often tempered by a breeze. Now the 3rd most visited region in France by British people, the Languedoc offers something for everyone. Miles of long, sandy beaches, coastal lagoons, vibrant cities such as Narbonne and Montpellier, historical sites such as Carcassonne and the Cathar castles, fabulous scenery, great cuisine and vineyards, vineyards, vineyards.

Sigean

Sigean, the local town, has a small supermarket, a boulangerie, shops, cafe-bars, restaurants and a bi-weekly market so you don't have to go far for your day-to-day needs. Narbonne, 15 kms away, is much larger and is a lovely town to visit with its bustling squares and narrow streets.

A day trip there involves a drive through in the morning, lunch, and then seeing the small animals on foot in the afternoon. Nature lovers will enjoy exploring the Etang de Bages lagoon to watch the flamingos and other birds which visit this large stretch of water.

Other good days out: Narbonne, the Canal du Midi, Carcassonne, the Fortresse de Salses, the lovely city of Perpigan and the beautiful Cote Vermeille with its lovely town of Collioure. A day trip to Spain is easily possible as the border is only 30 minutes drive away!
