So WELCOME to Monte Oiz, one of three identical buildings right next to each other - which is first step to get lost up here!
So remember that our apartment is located in the first of the three buildings! Which is also where the entrance to the underground parking garage is.
There's light 24/7 in the parking garage, so it is never dodgy to go into, and once you enter the garage, more light will turn on.
The garage has elevators straight up to the apartment on the 6th floor, so you won't have to walk many steps with suitcases, ski, groceries or hiking boots. Just remember that you can only park in the designated parking spot belonging to our apartment!
On the 2nd. floor there is a 24 hour concierge - he might be away on a "short" siesta, you know the spanish...but eventually he's there.
Once entering the apartment, you will find a small hallway, also with underfloor heating. Behind the front door is the fuse box, if you arrive off season you'll have to turn on the electricity, light, heating etc. here. If you arrive in the hight season, which still is winter, then you do not need to do anything, but it's nice ot know anyway - spanish electricity is not always stabile!
In the hallway, there is a coat rack and full body mirror and parking space for your outdoor shoes.
Don't forget to bring the keys with you, before you close the front door. The door locks once you close it, and if the keys are on the inside while your on the outside, it's quite an expensive trip to get a locksmith to Sierra Nevada, and the bill is 100% on you!
On your right hand when entering the apartment, you'll find the bathroom. It's rather large, and have a bathtub combined with a shower, a wonderful make-up mirror, separate environmentally friendly water-saving toilet and a bidet. The bathroom is kept in light colors and have cream colored marble tiles on the walls and floor. There's also underfloor heating, which is turned on behind the door.
The bedroom is right in front of you, when entering the apartment. There's a stunning view over the town square and at night you can hear the music, as the wind catches the tunes and carries them up the mountain.
In the wintertime this is a great place to spot the slopes and the daily snow-forecast.
The bedroom consist of one double 140x200 mattress, with warm duvets and soft pillows. The bedsheets are 100% clean, fresh and newly ironed upon your arrival.
There's also a night stand, with reading light and and power outlet to charge your mobile phone or camera for next days mountain activity. The bedroom have blackout curtain.
The closet in the bedroom is locked. That's where we keep our private things, while renting out. Please respect that.
Living Room and Kitchen
In the combined kitchen and living room, you'll find a pull-out sofa which turns into a 140x200 sofa bed. Under the sofa there is a hidden storage space, that's where you'll find the duvets and bedsheets, if you are more than 2 people. It's also where we keep the blankets.
There's also two small tea tables, a 32" flatscreen TV which is connected to our DVD player, so feel free to bring your favorite dvd or watch our somewhat limited selection of DVD's
The room also have black out curtains, which makes it easy to sleep, especially during the summer, when it is light outside most of the evening.
There's a solid wood dining table with 4 chairs, where you can enjoy breakfast, lunch or dinner - if you do not decide to visit one of the many restaurants in the area or walk to the town square where there is a bigger selection - one good all year around restaurant to mention, is the 100% family owned restaurant "Campobase" on the "backside" of the town square, where everything is home made and both the menu and the waiters comes with an english version!
The kitchen itself is small, but well quipped - here you find everything from a microwave oven, tea kettle, coffee machine to a small fridge with a possible even smaller freezer, salt, pepper, toaster and all the other basic things needed in a kitchen to cook a proper meal.
Do you smoke?
If you are a smoker, you may smoke as much as you feel like, outside the apartment but please DO NOT smoke inside our apartment!!
This is a NON-smoking apartment!
There are dumpsters on the street outside the apartment complex where you can throw in your trash. Please remember to close the bags, before throwing them into the dumpster.
If the bags are not closed correctly, the trash will fall out and into the dumpster, where wild animals tend to go through the trash, and perhaps eat plastic, which in the end eventually will cause them to die a slow death.
So while you are in Sierra Nevada, please take good care of our apartment, the animals and the environment.
The future will thank you, and so will we.
Directions to the Apartment
The largest airport in the region is Malaga Airport. It's located about 170 km away. If you fly into this airport you'll need a car, there is however free parking in the underground parking garage belonging to the apartment. The garage opener is inside the apartment.
You can also fly into Granada Airport. From here you do not need a car, a taxi would cost between 25-35€ from the Airport to the Apartment, perhaps a little more if there is rush-hour, so ask the driver first. The taxi drive takes around 20 minutes.
There is also an Airport Bus leaving the Airport and going to Sierra Nevada with various stops in Sierra Nevada city. One of the stops are just outside our apartment. The bus cost between 3-10€ pr. person including luggage, depending on the season. Wintertime is the high season with a rate at 10€. The bus ride takes around 35 minutes.
If you bring a car, it is possible to park in the underground parking garage for an extra cost of 25€ pr. booking, but remember only to park in the designated parking space, that we provide you with - as some people tend to get a bit cranky if you park in their space!
Our apartment is placed right in the center of Sierra Nevada Ski Resort just 50 meters from the Parador chairlift stopover, more than 2200 meters above sea level.
We are very close to everything, like small shops, restaurants, parking, slopes and the town square, everything within walking distance.
There are hundreds of restaurants in the wintertime and sometimes it can be difficult to see which ones are good local ones and which ones are tourist traps with lazy service, poor quality of food, nasty toilets, no WiFi and rude staff - so if you are not out for adventures every night, we'll be happy to guide you to some of our favorite places. Just ask.
Arrival & The Keys
Upon arrival you will either be meet by us or by our cleaning lady, whom will let you into both the apartment and the parking garage, and give you a short guided tour through the facility.
The keys for you to use, while staying in our apartment, will be inside on the kitchen table. When you leave again, you just leave the keys on the table and slam the door.
- and remember, if you lose the keys while staying here, the locksmith and new keys are 100% on your bill.
If you wish to check in after 8.00 pm in the evening or check out after 11.00 am in the morning, we'll charge you an extra fee at 25€, to be paid upon arrival.
In our apartment you find this:
- 32? flat screen TV
- Dvd Player
- 30 MBit Internet (Wi-Fi)
- Two ceramic hobs
- Small oven
- Small concealed fridge/freezer
- Electric kettle
- Coffee pot
- Microwave oven
- 1 Toilet
- 1 Bath Tube
- Fresh soft towels
- and the mountains and slopes, just 60 sek. away!
If you wish to stay for a longer period, feel free to ask and let's see if we can find an agreeable price.
