Il Pietraio is an old country house immersed deeply in the wild woods of the Carline Natural Reserve, a hidden pearl in the province of Siena amidst deer, porcupines and wild boars.
The house, on a secluded hill with beautiful views, is 3 kms into the woods neighbouring only with Porcignano (restaurant 1 km away) and the Thermal baths of Le Galleraie (2 kms away). Both are nice walking to.
The area abounds in marked walking routes, beautiful rivers, genuine restaurants, organic farmhouses, scrumptious food and breathtaking views.
Food shopping, restaurants, bars, chemist, bank, post office can be found in either Belforte or Radicondoli which are 7 and 12 kms away.

The Tuscany region

Fantastic weather from May to October, May and September being the very best months to enjoy the natural setting, the sunlight and temperature. Radicondoli and Belforte are perfecly preserved Medieval villages that have kept their character and very lively community. This area is in fact one of the few still authentic and unspoilt parts of Tuscany, away from the limelight and off the beaten track. Very close to stunning art cities as Siena, Florence and S. Gimignano, but immersed in wild nature.

Siena / Radicondoli area

Radicondoli has a very strong identity, the community is very active, and has been producing a very famous drama festival for 20 years in July/August. Art exhibitions are always displayed, sculptures are also often displayed in the ancient alleys of the village.
Throughout the year many village feasts liven up the otherwise quiet lifestyle. The village brass band is a gem.
Events worth mentioning are 1 May, S. Giovanni on 23 June; the famous Drama Festival from 27 July to 12 August which attracts Italian and International artists.
Pietraio is only 1 km from an incredible restaurant where you can eat some of the most ancient and traditional Tuscan dishes, homemade jellies and preserves of the rarest berries picked patiently by the solitary lady who runs it with her young chef to be son.

The cozy inner yard offers stunning views of the Natural Reserve and hosts access to the large panoramic lounge/dining room obtained from the old hay stacks, the large BBQ and wood oven and 3 independent en-suite double bedrooms. Just off the courtyard sits the staircase leading to the first floor, hosting a large open living area with fireplace, a fully fitted professional kitchen and three double bedrooms, each with its own bathroom. At the back of the house sits an independent studio flat with a double bed and a sofa bed on a split floor.
Il Pietraio also has a panoramic swimming pool with shower, deckchairs and parasols.
The house can be booked as a whole for large groups. Smaller groups can choose to rent the main part of the building only, excluding the independent courtyard rooms.
