Summer Cottage
About the home
This lovingly restored 2 bed cottage in Sidmouth has been the subject of a year long refurbishment programme. The result is a beautiful and fully modernised cottage yet it still retains it's original character and chocolate box appeal. Situated in a fantastic location in a peaceful part of Sidmouth, it is however just 2 mins walk from the town centre and less than a 5 min stroll to the sea front. The beauty of this cottage is there is no need to use a car for the whole duration of your stay - absolutely everything you could possibly need is within walking distance.
Having 2 very young chidren, we have made our Sidmouth cottage completely baby friendly - including a cot, high chair and stair gates.

Having 2 very young chidren, we have made our Sidmouth cottage completely baby friendly - see our list of free of free additional baby friendly services.
The living room is a lovely combination of modern comfort with a real character cottage feel. Everything is brand new including oak flooring and a large sofa (sofa bed). Digital TV is provided as well as wi-fi internet access.
The dining area has a table and 4 chairs. Using our 8 years experience in the industry we believe this lovely cottage to rent in Sidmouth, Devon is equipped with everything a holiday maker could require.
From the dining area you move into a brand new fully equipped kitchen. A dishwasher is provided. If it gets a little chilly, don't worry, the kitchen has under floor heating! A door leads to the back courtyard and a small utility room with a washing machine.
Moving upstairs, the spacious master bedroom has a double bed and large built in wardrobes are provided. Bedroom two is smaller but full of character. It has two twin beds - one standard single and the 2nd pulls out from underneath. We therefore recommend it for one adult or two children.
The family bathroom is again brand new, fresh and crisp. A bath with overhead shower is provided. Heated towel rails will keep you warm!
Further details outdoors:
The cottage is accessed from a quiet pedestrianised street which is very safe for kids. The front courtyard has a sunny aspect and includes a metal table and 4 chairs.
The cottage offers the best of both worlds. The energetic will love the pretty and romantic walks that Sidmouth and East Devon provide. Those just wanting to relax, unwide and take in the sea air can do so without the need of a car. By contrast if you want to get out and about, Sidmouth is very well located for everything Devon has to offer. Anyone needing to keep in touch with business can do so via our free wi-fi internet. This is a wonderful devon cottage to rent that suits all needs and requirements.

I have just returned from a lovely week at the cottage in October. Having read the review from the previous guest I specifically asked Jon, the owner about bed linen and towels. He replied that everyone gets full bed linen and a hand / bath towel per person. I asked about the heating and he confirmed that the heating was timed to come on for 2 hours in the morning and 2 hours in the evening. But this can be overidden by switching the bolier on manual. This was very welcome as with most cottages I have rented before, I have been charged extra for heating. The cottage itself was lovely, warm and cosy. We were extremely happy. There is no parking but you can pull your car up outside to unload. We found plenty of spaces in the side roads and the car was never more than 2 minutes away. Having said that, we hardly ever used it because the high street and the sea front is literally just around the corner. Sidmouth is a wonderful town that has managed to escape the commercialism that is seen in most sea side towns. It is one of the prettiest sea side resorts I have been too. Overall we had a lovely holiday and must thank Jon for all his help and timely replies to all my questions before we booked. |

This cottage is a good location central to the town, is clean and tidy, and has great potential. It has a lot of charm. Unfortunately it was also cold and there was insufficient bedding......we borrowed extra from a family member that lived nearby. There was a notice in the house stating that the heating came on for an hour or so in the morning and again in the evening, and that the controls were not to be tampered with, but it did not come on at all in the three days we were there. We sat outside to warm up in the morning. Phone calls to the owner and the house cleaner were unanswered. Response: Thank you for your feedback and I am glad you enjoyed the cottage. I do not understand your comments. The arrival information sent to all our guests clearly highlights that, at no extra charge, bedlinen for all beds is supplied plus a hand towel and bath towel per person. I am sorry that one bed wasn't made up for you but if you tell me that 2 people are staying and then 4 turn up then that isn't my fault. The heating is on a timer with a manual overide on the new boiler which is easily accessible in the kitchen. I was away on business during your stay with my mobile off. My voicemail gave a 2nd number for my assistant that you never called. Your arrival instructions also have 2 other number - my wife's and my property manager. Again you did not call these either. I agree with the review system and welcome constructive comments from my guests. However when I have had so many happy customers and repeat bookings it is very frustrating to get a review of this nature which it is actually factually incorrect. |
