Stanley Cottage is a Victorian semi detached cottage in the heart of Tipton St John, a delightful East Devon village. The accommodation is spacious and tastefully furnished with leather sofas in the sitting room and a mixture of oak and pine furniture throughout. The cottage overlooks open countryside at the rear.

The village is on the River Otter which leads down to Budleigh Salterton and the Otter Estuary and the whole area is designated as an area of outstanding natural beauty. The unspoilt coastal resort of Sidmouth is just 3 miles away. You may like to walk or cycle through quiet country lanes, walk alongside the river Otter, or through forest and dis-used railway tracks, spot plenty of birds including Buzzard Egret and Kingfisher, see rabbits and foxes as well as a variety of farm animals. Or why not sit an enjoy some peace and quiet at the recreation ground beside the river and watch the village cricket team in action. Visit the Church, and the Golden Lion Pub, renowned for its superb food and lovely beer garden where there is often a BBQ in the summer months. The village shop is well stocked for day to day essentials. Whatever you choose to do, you will find a warm welcome in Tipton St John.

ACCOMMODATION: Entrance door to lobby with easy rising stairs to first floor. Spacious kitchen with dining area and French doors to decked sitting out area. Sitting room with open fire and French doors to the same decked outside area as kitchen. On the first floor there are two bedrooms, both very well furnished, one with twin beds and one with king size double bed. Large bathroom with corner bath and shower over. Wash basin and WC. Superb views over the fields at the rear of the cottage. Outside there is a decked sitting out area with garden furniture. The mill leat runs by where you can see ducks, eels and if you are very lucky you might even spot an otter.

17th January 2012: Whilst writing, I feel it worth mentioning what a terrific holiday let it proved to be. We are serial holidayers in the south west, making 2 or 3 breaks a year and this was one of the nicest cottages we have ever stayed in, in terms of being smart, clean and well appointed.

Superb accommodation. Great base for local walking and scenery. Wilson Family. April 2012
