House | 3 bedrooms | sleeps 6
Nestled in the foothills of the Carpathian mountains sits the picturesque village of Cisnadioara (10 km from Sibiu, European City of Culture 2007). Here you can find our traditional Saxon house, built in 1879. Whether you chose to relax in the mountains or visit the multitude of nearby pretty Saxon towns and villages there really is something for everyone. Sightseeing, walking, bird watching, wild edible fungi gathering (with a local expert) horse-riding, fishing, trail riding and quad biking. Day excursions include the Transfagaras Highway (voted the worlds best driving road by the 'Top Gear' presenters), Bran Castle (Dracula's Castle), medieval Sighisoara (Dracula's birth place) and the splendid, recently restored fort of Alba Julia : The Balea Lac Ice Hotel and Ice Church are also nearby, for that winter (January to April) wonderland experience. However you chose to fill your time Casa Mica is the ideal base with friendly English owners on hand 24/7.
Casa Mica has 2 double bedrooms and a large family room. The family room has a large bathroom and the 2 rooms in the renovated loft area have a shared shower room. Nearby Rasinari has a market on Saturday mornings selling everything from meat, cheese, vegetables, livestock to shoes and clothing. The ski resort of Paltinis is also nearby as is the Astra Museum and of course the Cindrel mountains, which can be accessed from the village..
