The Transylvania region

Transylvania is one of the best kept secrets of Europe. Right now you and your family have the golden opportunity to explore it and to see the wonders of such a great area of Europe. Explore Draculas Trail taking in ancient cities like Sighisoara and Sibiu. Brasov and Bran beautiful locations second to none in this part of the European Union. High rising peaks in Brasov and the pleasant rolling hills of Alba all make your holiday so special and somewhere you will want to come back to again and again. Explore the county seat of ancient Alba Julia and its ancient Roman fortifications. There is literally so little time to cram it all in. So come back you will I am certain.

Sibiu / Laz area

Visit nearby Loman and see the locals about their work working in the fields using the scythes or tending their grape crops, drawing water from the wells. Yes rural Romania may be a little behind in the grand scale of things but what a pleasant and tranquil life style away from all the unpleasant problems that we so frequently encounter in our inner cities. Pop into the village museum in Loman for an even further delve into the past. Have fun I know the local people will make you so welcome.

TRAVEL OPTIONS

NUMBER ONE OPTION Is to fly out of London-Luton to Cluj-Napoca with Wizzair for as little as....WAIT FOR IT! JUST £38.00 RETURN - (Search for available flights with www.skyscanner.net)

2. From Great Britain Fly from London Heathrow to Bucharest Otopeni then an internal short hall flight (45 mins) to Sibiu. Tarom the Romanian National Airlines I can highly recommend as I have flown with them many times but try to book online early to ensure cheaper flights.

3. Again from Great Britain Fly into Bucharest with WIZZ a low cost carrier arriving at Baneasa or sometimes at the Otopeni in the capital (Baneasa is virtually next door to the main Otopeni airport anyway) from London Stansted Airport.

4. From Germany direct with Lufthansa from Munich to Sibiu

5. Why not take a tour through Europe and travel via Eurolines £170 aprox return (2007) arriving at either Sebes or Sibiu

6. Fly out of The UK from London Luton Airport with Easy Jet to Charles de Gaule Paris then hop on a flight with Carpatair to Sibiu

(Those of you who don't wish to take an internal flight from Bucharest can either hire a car or hop on a train at Gara De Nord in the capital and journey upto Sibiu or Sebes to hire a car (Hire your cars online prior to going to Romania to save last minutes hassles)

7. Now if you are an intrepid traveller why not take a tour by car through Europe and take in the sights of places like Brugge, Cologne, Frankfurt, Wurzburg. Vienna and beautiful Budapest. I have done this many many times and it's great fun and you see so much more just don't forget to get your Vignetttes in Austria,Hungary and Romania. No visas are required. Hey! I know you youngsters are up for it so go get intrepid

It is possible to book your accommodation for winter periods too and if you have access to 4x4 vehicles so much the better - Hey! Have Fun.

Bon Voyage! Drum Bun! Eine Gute Rheise! and Have a great journey folks.
