Further details outdoors

The stylish south facing garden is the ideal spot for soaking up the sun, taking a leisurely swim and relaxing, whilst listening to the lapping waves of the sea. The house occupies the largest beachfront garden on this prestigious road and has sea views as far as Worthing Pier to the west and Beachy Head to the east.

The large swimming pool is the dominant feature of this garden and is a few feet from the beach with sea views. The pool is heated by a powerful new boiler which ensures that the water is lovely and warm for swimming all year round. It is 10m x 5.5m, has a curved, roman style end with steps and is flanked on one side by a long white benched seating area. The pool is surrounded by paving, and there is a vast patio area in front of the house, ideal for sunbathing and for the use of the masonry charcoal/log fired BBQ. There is also a large manicured lawn area surrounded by architectural planting including palm trees and New Zealand flax. There is seating and sun loungers for guests and in high summer, you may be forgiven for imagining that you are in the Mediterranean as you sip a cold drink and enjoy views of the pool and the glittering sea just beyond. In the evenings, the garden is transformed as the pool lights up and the patio becomes the ideal area for cocktails whilst watching the stunning sunsets. In the centre of the garden, at the end of the pool, the decorative metal gates open directly onto the beach allowing you to effortlessly combine pool and seaside lifestyles in one.

There is a side gate leading to the front garden where there is parking for up to 6 cars on the paved driveway. This garden has been architecturally designed to create an impressive frontage and entrance, with steps up to the house, two oval shaped lawns and some showpiece specimen plants, including a massive New Zealand flax and a beautiful, gnarled olive tree which is over a century old.

The West Sussex region

South East England combines the highest average daytime temperatures found in the British Isles with the highest sunshine averages on the British mainland.

Shoreham-by-Sea sits in a spectacular position on the Sussex Coast, at the mouth of the River Adur and with the beautiful South Downs as a backdrop. It is a pretty little harbour town with an interesting array of boutiques, restaurants and coffee shops, many of which overlook the river.

Sometimes called the 'Beach that Tourists forgot', Shoreham Beach is a haven of tranquillity in the long, summer months enjoyed by the town. When low tide beckons there's plenty of sand for even the most ardent 'sand castle builder' and with over 3.7km of 'pebbly' shoreline at high tide, the beach is superb for walks, exploring, sitting relaxing and taking in the sea air as well as swimming and watersports.

The house stands on the foreshore of the beach, in a quiet, prestigious road which is now locally acclaimed as the next Sandbanks. The beach is also a nature reserve, with over 70 varieties of plants some of which can only be found growing naturally in 3 other locations in the world. In the spring and summer parts of the beach are transformed as many of these plants flower to provide a unique landscape rarely seen on beaches in this country.

10 Things to Do:

Relax & enjoy the peaceful Shoreham Beach suroundings, walking along the beach, sunbathing, swimming or cycling

Take a walk along the banks of the river Adur viewing the interesting houseboats and then over the footbridge into Shoreham with its 700 year old church and Marlipins museum

Day out in Brighton - visiting the historic Royal Pavillion, Palace Pier and neighbouring indoor Sea Life centre

Night out in Brighton - perhaps taking in a show at the Brighton Centre, Dome or Theatre Royal, at any time of year. The Brighton Festival, Englands biggest, runs throughout May every year

Fishing - from the beach or from the harbour wall throughout the year for bass, mackeral, mullet and flounder (rods, bait and informal tuition available from Mark at the harbour wall tel: 07926 811882). "Perfect house, pool & beach. What else do you need ?"

Our third year here enjoying a week at the seaside with kids from 6 to 17. House is beautiful and has EVERYTHING you'd need, pool is heated and large, and the beach is a few steps away. All just an hour from London ! Owners are lovely and obviously care a great deal about their home.

"Lovely house. Fantastic weekend"

Caroline could not have been more helpful during the booking process and the small things made for a great weekend. The good weather we had (despite it pouring with rain in Glastonbury ) meant that we hardly left the garden, but there was so much to keep us there including a beautifully heated pool and multiple fridges and freezer for cool drinks and ice. Two great options of eating in or out, all round one big table, with smaller lounges allowing for a bit of 'me' time too. We self-catered all weekend and found the kitchen one of the best equipped we have encountered. The area is great - Shoreham is more quaint with a fab Saturday morning market, bakery close by for croissants etc. And brighton on the doorstep too for some proper retail therapy and walk along the prom. All in all, a great place for a large group holiday.

"Beautiful weekend break"

Our party of 12 (mixed ages from 60 to 20months) have just returned from a wonderful stay at the wow beach and pool house in Shoreham.
The house was beautiful and filled with the White House company products - which was a lovely touch.
The views are absolutely stunning and there is a super viewing room on the first floor, we could have sat for hours watching the sea!

The pool is lovely, clean and very warm and there are lots of inflatables to use - which the children loved!

Location is superb with Brighton and Worthing both on your door step and the walk into shoreham (over the bridge) is really nice.

The owners Caroline and Ashley were wonderful hosts and couldn't do enough for us - I even asked for sunshine and they made that happen ;)

A fabulous weekend, we can't wait to return.

"The Beach House was a definite Wow House"

5 sisters and 1 brother with all our partners spent a long weekend at the Beach House in Shoreham. The house was big enough for all to sit around as a group comfortably as well as finding a quite place to sit and relax if you wanted solitude.
The kitchen was well equiped and a christmas meal for 12 was cooked hot and on time - no mean feet with someone elses kitchen.
Having the sea at the bottom of your garden was a joy and having a heated pool for our early morning swim was an extra bonus.
The little extras like the luxury bath sheets and bed linen along with a food hamper made this lovely home feel like an expensive hotel.
