The stunning beaches of North Devon and its world renowned reputation for wildlife, nature and beauty set a most amazing backdrop for the coastal towns and countryside villages that make up the area that is Devon.
Historic Barnstable dates back 1000 years and is a hub for great retail therapy. For nature lovers, see the puffins on Lundy Island or visit the Exmoor National Park to discover the most stunning views. The harbour, beaches and attractions in Ilfracombe have been attracting holiday makers in their droves since the Victorian era. There are so many places to visit in Devon - make sure you don't miss any.
With so much to see and do in North Devon, you will be spoilt for choice. Discover fun filled days that will keep you and your little ones entertained and fascinated for hours on end. Whatever the weather there is an attraction or activity to suit, and plenty of retail therapy in our market towns. Whether you want to explore the coast or enjoy the best local food and drink North Devon has to offer, your journey starts here.
Barnstaple is the oldest borough in the country and is the commercial and agricultural centre of North Devon. A must visit for anyone seeking serious retail therapy. Saxons first settled in Barnstaple (Barum) over 1000 years ago; In 930 AD it was a Saxon stronghold serving as a market for the surrounding countryside.
Today it has a wonderful mixture of Victorian, Medieval and Georgian architecture and is proud to be a multiple winner of Britain in Bloom. Visit the Barnstaple Heritage Centre, sited in a fine Grade 1 listed building to learn more about the town's 1000 year history.

"A fantastic getaway in beautiful location."
We were are party of 12. We stayed in Willow and Shippon Cottages. Both were perfect size and fully equipped with everything we needed. The pool was fantastic as was the games room. The location is great in a beautiful part of Devon. We would come back again and highly recommend.

"Fantastic, tranquil setting, great for kids, safe and fun. Lovely pool."
We stayed in the Shippon which was a great cottage with fantastic views. We were only there for a short break (2 nights) and didn't need to go off-site as there was plenty to occupy the children including the great pool which was quiet as we went "out of season". If you are looking for a safe environment to let the kids roam then this is a great place. We will definitely be going back for a longer holiday in the summer and explore the beaches and local area. I will be recommending this place to all my friends! Good value and very relaxing mini-break. We received a very warm welcome from our hosts who were extremely helpful and kindhearted.
