This charming detached 19th-century courtyard property have been completely renovated, retaining many original features and is attractively furnished. Located on a working farm in peaceful and tranquil surroundings, under the backdrop of the Wicklow Mountains, close to the Wicklow Way with its wonderful walks and pony trekking opportunities.

The holiday property provides an excellent base for exploring Wicklow, Wexford and historic Kilkenny. Avoca, the Ballykissangel village is 12 miles, not far is the picturesque 8th century monastic site at Glendalough, as are the spectacular gardens at Powerscourt, accessed by a beautiful mountain drive. Dublin, ideal for a day trip, the Guinness Brewery, great zoo in the Phoenix Park and all that Dublin's fair city has to offer (park & ride the Luas at the Red Cow) is 50 miles.

The Rosslare-Dun Laoghare-Dublin Port ferries and Dublin Airport a little over an hour. Four golf courses within ½ hour, as well as fishing, and Courtown's sandy beach 40 minutes. Three racecourses within an hour (stabling for three horses on request, together with public cross country course 0.5 miles. Rathwood Garden Centre and daytime restaurant and Rath, a Bronze Age settlement 2 miles. Shop 1 mile, pub 0.5 miles, supermarket and restaurants 5 miles.

The Lodge is accessed from the courtyard and from the patio it opens into the new kitchen, down three steps to the comfortable lounge / diner offering great space and open peat fire. Sky free view and all the Irish channels are available on the TV.

A passage way leads to the two tastefully decorated and furnished bedrooms, one offering twin beds and the large and spacious double bedroom. The toilet and shower room with heater adjoins both bedrooms.

You will not be disappointed with the décor and furnishing (all new 2012) with this accomodation.

The private patio area has its own furniture and barbecue, there is also extra storage space for push chairs / clubs / walking equip in adjoining room / store off the patio.

There is a dedicated parking area for two cars provided.

A welcome pack is provided for you, milk, tea, coffee, orange juice and a starter pack for the peat fire, comprising of peat brickettes, firelighter and matches.

The propert manager lives only a short walking distance away and will attend to all your needs.

We welcome one pet with guests, being situated in open country side, pets can be exercised close by, but please not within the immediate grounds. There is no internet connection.

The South East Ireland region

Situated in the "Sunny South East" as known through out Ireland for its mild weather, at the southerly tip of the Wicklow Mountains. The property lies in open countryside in a valley at approximately 450 ft/absl with a southerly aspect, under hill and mountain rising up to over 1500ft/absl.

Shillelagh

Shillelagh is Irish for a walking stick, which sums up the areas natural beauty, you may need one on the Wicklow Way which passes through the area and finishes close by in the picturesque village of Clonegal. Country life in this area is still much as it was many years ago, predominately agriculture.

Four golf courses within 30 min drive, fishing on the Slaney and others close by, choose from four racecourse within easy travelling distance. We also have stabling available, public cross country course and hunting in season.
