The East Anglia / Norfolk region
The stunning region of Norfolk combines pretty villages, beautiful countryside abundant with wildlife with miles of unspoilt golden sandy beaches. A tour of the region will uncover relaxed towns, historic churches, inviting cafes and pubs and of course wonderful shops.
North Norfolk offers many opportunities for walking through woods and along the coastal paths. Several properties owned by the National Trust are within easy reach and the Royal Estate at Sandringham is about an hour's drive from Sheringham.
Sheringham area
Perched on the North coast of Norfolk, Sheringham celebrated it's centenary in 2001. It has a working lifeboat station, including a fascinating museum of RNLI activities. You can watch fishermen launching their boats from the jettys and buy their catch in the local fish shops soon after.
The beach has a pebble ridge at high tide, but lots of clear, clean sand at lower tides. Nearby attractions included a working Steam railway (The Poppy Line) connecting Holt to Sheringham.
The Little Theatre presents plays by the excellent repertory company throughout the season and The Splash Leisure Pool offers the Wave Pool, Giant Waterslide and safe beach area - ideal for families with small children. The North Norfolk Steam Railway runs regular trips from Sheringham to Weybourne and Holt.
