The Sheringham area
Sheringham town is the jewel of the North Norfolk coast. Always a busy summer tourist destination, Sheringham is becoming increasingly popular throughout the year. Each season highlights distinct aspects of the areas appeal, from the beach and bathing activities, ice cream, and family fun pastimes of summer, to the riot of colour as the area’s gardens and wild spaces bloom in spring, and the autumn colours on view once summer fades. Long walks along the coast and inland are just as rewarding in the colder months as wide skies and stark landscapes provide amazing panoramas and evenings spent fireside make for romantic getaways.
Among Sheringham’s many features is its seafront complete with promenade and painted beach huts, its lovely beach which has been awarded a Blue Flag for its cleanliness. Walks along the beach are possible at low tide else the coastal path runs along the cliff top east and west from town. Sheringham boasts one of the best High Streets in the area, being full of independent retail stores , selling local produce. A market operates on Saturday throughout the year and also on Wednesdays from March to October. The town has several museums including the Mo which houses the town’s old lifeboats and offers visitors an insight into the history of the town and its people.
Other attractions include: Splash Leisure Centre offering a wave pool, flume and fitness centre, the Poppy Line steam train that operates until the end of October and runs every 45mins in High Season, the Little Theatre shows film, summer rep and pantomime entertainment all year round
