About this location
The Yorkshire region
The cottage lies in countryside approx 4 miles from Sheffield centre but right on the edge of the Peak District. Good footpaths link the cottage to nearby parks, ponds and play areas and also to the open country and moorland. The cottage is well located for easy access to the beautiful Hope Valley and the peak district attractions such as Chatsworth House and Market town of Bakewell.
The cottage nestles in the heart of the lovely Mayfield Valley, with Porter Brook at the bottom of the south facing cottage garden.
This small river that runs through Mayfield Valley once supported 19 water wheels, used to power grinding wheels and forge hammers.
