The English Market was visited by Queen Elizabeth and the Duke of Edinburgh (2011). The market offers an excellent array of unprocessed foods and is a mecca for local food shoppers. It has a very good café and restaurant, " The Farm Gate" where one can enjoy delicious coffee and cake or lunch. There are many annual festivals that attract the niche visitor such as the Jazz, Film and Choral Festivals. Other cultural and historical attractions include The Crawford Art Gallery, Cork Museum, Cork City Gaol, St. Fin barre's Cathedral and University College Cork.

•Cork county is the largest county in Ireland. It stretches from Youghal in east Cork, to the Beara Peninsula in West Cork so its landscape is varied. It is famous for its great bays, secret coves, rocky headlands and long soft sandy beaches. The rich farmlands and river valleys contrast with the wild sandstone hills. County Cork is rich in historic associations with Kinsale, Charles Fort and Blarney Castle where famous battles were fought. Blarney Castle is internationally famous for the Blarney Stone. Georgian houses, such as Riverstown House, Fota House and Bantry House, contribute to the region's built heritage.

"The Beauty that is Ireland"

From the moment we were warmly greeted by owners Maura and Eugene Currivan we knew we had made the right choice. The Currivan's attention to detail has made An Teach Ban (The White House) one of the prettiest and most comfortable home away from homes we have ever experienced. The 3 bathrooms are new and spotless as is the rest of the house. There are shiny hardwood floors throughout the house. The master bedroom was very comfortable and had ample storage for clothing. The kitchen and dining area are very spacious and have the same airy open feel of the entire house There's a large flat screen TV with satellite TV and there's a great little hearth in which we had a peat fire every night. Perhaps the best detail of the home is the view - Dunmanus Bay from the front windows - mountains from the rear - a pasture with a horse and a donkey to the right - and a patchwork of beautiful landscape as far as the eye can see to the left. We found ourselves just staring out windows and getting lost in the beauty of these views. As for location, it's a 5 minute drive to Durrus and a 20 minute drive to Bantry. Both have wonderful restaurants; Durrus has a grocery store and Bantry, the larger city, has everything. There are lots of things to do within 2o miles to keep you occupied your entire stay. All in all, An Teach Ban is Ireland at its very best!
